Job Summary
LASP is seeking a FDS Lead for the mission design and navigation system development for an exciting and challenging asteroid exploration mission planned for launch in Q1 of 2028.
Who We Are
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Lead the Mission Design and Navigation system development, analysis, integration and test.
- Responsible for the Mission Design and associated analysis, test and verification products.
- Responsible for the development of a new operational navigation system.
- Responsible for the navigation system performance analyses, test and verification.
- Development of the products and processes for flight operations.

What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is $174,000 - $245,000 Annually. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting. Relocation assistance is available per institute guidelines.

What We Require
- Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline) with 10 years experience in interplanetary Mission Design and Navigation, including experience with radiometric tracking techniques and optical navigation techniques.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Interplanetary spaceflight operational experience in radiometric tracking and optical navigation techniques as applied to low-thrust, solar electric propulsion missions.
- Experience with Python programming, C/C++ programming, mission design tools such as GMAT, STK, Copernicus, MONTE.
- Low-thrust mission design and navigation experience.
