Job Summary
The Deputy Business Manager is responsible for ensuring the success of a space program by providing effective program management support in contracts and finance. The position will be expected to maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders, and to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization. The Deputy Business Manager’s work will be instrumental in driving the growth and success of the program, ensuring that they meet their financial, operational, and strategic objectives.
Who We Are
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Develop and manage contracts on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Monitor and report contract performance, ensuring compliance with requirements and regulations.
- Create and maintain financial baseline plans, including developing estimates at completion (EACs) and identifying risks and opportunities.
- Forecast financial risks and opportunities and develop short-term outlooks for two programs.
- Participate in annual operation planning (AOP) and provide general program management support for two space programs.
- Collaborate with customers and support various meetings, including executive-level meetings.
- Contribute to proposal development by reviewing basis of estimates (BOEs), preparing charts, developing cost volumes, planning personnel needs, and preparing for contract negotiations.
- Lead a team consisting of 2-3 Analysts and 2-3 Contract Specialists while collaborating closely with Contracting Officer personnel.

What We Can Offer
The salary range for this position is $95,000-$130,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting. Relocation assistance is available per institute guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and practical experience/
- Four years of experience in a relevant field, or an advanced degree in a related area with a minimum of two years of experience.
What You Will Need
- Strong experience in consolidating and analyzing financial data sets to ensure the accuracy of financial forecasts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial information effectively to internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership.
- Capability to collaborate with key functional team members and program managers to offer solutions and make prompt informed business decisions.
- Highly proficient in written and verbal communication with a positive and self-motivated "can do" attitude.
- Proven track record of being proactive, imaginative, and creative, with critical and strategic thinking abilities.
- Quick learner with the ability to utilize program management systems and tools effectively • Ability to independently generate and precisely analyze financial data.
- Prior financial experience in the aerospace/defense industry is preferred.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Minimum of 4 years of work experience in finance or accounting; or an advanced degree in finance or accounting with at least 2 years of work experience in the field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Contracting/Contract Formulation; or at least 6 years of experience as a contract manager for a large multimillion dollar project/program.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Project Management; or an advanced degree in Project Management with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Expertise as a Contract Officer or Contract Specialist with a thorough understanding of contractual terms and conditions for both federal and commercial contracts.
- Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
