Job Summary

​The Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Instructor, to commence August, 2024. Initial appointment will be for two years and is renewable. Primary duties will include:

  • Coordination and supervision each semester of small sections of a large multi-section courses taught by graduate student TAs and Lecturers.
  • Teaching three courses each semester (or four in semesters when there is no coordination and supervision as above.)

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics conferred by the start date of the appointment, and at least 4 semesters experience teaching mathematics at the university level (may include time during graduate studies).

Some supervisory experience (e.g., supervising TAs) is desirable, and preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm about modern pedagogical techniques and who desire to stay abreast of curricular developments.

Who We Are

​The Mathematics Department of the University of Colorado Boulder has broad range of research interests, including Algebraic and Differential Geometry, Combinatorics, Logic and Foundations, Mathematical Physics, Partial Differential Equations, Number Theory, Noncommutative Geometry, Operator Algebras, Probability, and Topology. We presently have twenty-four tenured and tenure-track faculty as well as eleven postdoctoral fellows and visitors. The Mathematics Department has over fifty graduate students and serves well over five hundred undergraduate majors and minors.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

P​rimary duties will include:

​65,000.00 - $72,000.00/yr depending on experience.

What We Require

  • C​andidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics and at least 4 semesters experience teaching mathematics at the university level.​
  • This may include experience gained during graduate studies. 

What We Would Like You to Have

  • ​Some supervisory experience (e.g., supervising TAs) is desirable, and preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm about modern pedagogical techniques and who desire to stay abreast of curricular developments.
  • Experience or interest in helping math majors liaise with the regional community (industry, former graduates, institutes, etc.) would be considered a bonus.​
