Job Summary
The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU Boulder) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2025. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research brings together approximation theory, high-dimensional probability and stochastic processes, numerical analysis, and optimization to develop a comprehensive theoretical foundation of machine learning and modern artificial intelligence applications.
This position requires a commitment to supporting the diverse student populations in our department and its associated campus educational mission, a dedication to teaching in our undergraduate and graduate programs and developing and conducting an innovative independent research program. Who We Are
The Department of Applied Mathematics is home to a diverse and energetic faculty and staff. Our 20 tenured and tenure track faculty work on areas that span computational mathematics, nonlinear mathematics including nonlinear dynamics and waves, mathematical biology, physical applied mathematics, probability, and statistics and data sciences. The Department sits at the crossroads of the university's two largest colleges, being rostered in the College of Arts and Sciences while teaching students in College of Engineering. Faculty are expected to do research, teaching, service according to 40%, 40%, 20% split, respectively.

What We Can Offer
- $105,000 — $125,000
- Candidates may expect starting salaries within the posted range depending upon accomplishments-including publication record and external funding-and years of experience in a comparable faculty position within this field.

What We Require
Candidates for this position must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or a related field by the start date of the position.
