What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Collection Development: leverages subject expertise, relationships, and interactions to collaborate in building collections that are responsive to student, faculty, and researcher needs.
- Instruction: builds multimodal information literacy teaching and learning into the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences curriculum and related programs, with a particular focus on fostering undergraduate success. Build and maintain learning materials, including robust subject and course guides.
- Relationship Building: builds bridges between the Libraries and the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences while partnering with internal collaborators to connect people to the full range of the libraries’ resources and services. Develops outreach and services designed to address the needs of the undergraduate populations in engineering and related fields.
- Research Support: advises and guides researchers in engineering and related areas to enable learning and connect users to library resources and services.
- Subject Expertise: Understands subject and disciplinary needs of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and how those relate to the curricular, programmatic, research, and teaching needs of the faculty and students within their assigned subject areas.
- Advocacy: leverages subject expertise and area relationships to build support for library priorities in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and promote participation in Libraries initiatives.
- Collaboration: participates in Libraries task forces, pods, guilds, and teams as appropriate; participates actively in the chapter’s public service mission by providing coverage at Libraries’ service points.
- Gemmill Library: Serve as an integral member of the Leonard H. Gemmill Engineering, Mathematics & Physics Library, contributing to operations, outreach, and community engagement.
- Maintain a sustained record of substantive scholarship and creative work, and demonstrate a continued commitment to leadership and service.
What You Should Know
- This position is offered in a hybrid capacity. There will be an information session on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 11:00-11:45 am. At this information session, the search committee will share information about the Science & Engineering Librarian job search, working at CU Boulder, the tenure track, and answer attendee questions. A webinar link will be provided to registrants via email.
- The campus has implemented a reference check program with respect to final candidates for tenured faculty appointments. The reference check program is intended to allow CU Boulder to collect and review information about a candidate's conduct at their previous institutions, specifically conduct related to sexual misconduct, harassment, and/or discrimination – before making hiring decisions. All final candidates for tenured faculty appointments are required to complete an Authorization to Release Information.
What We Can Offer
- The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time (12-month) tenure track faculty member at the Assistant Professor rank. The salary range for Assistant Professor is $70,000-$76,000. A candidate that meets the University and Libraries criteria for hire with tenure may be eligible for the rank of Associate Professor with a starting salary range of $80,000-$86,000. A candidate with a career of excellence and significant growth, development, and accomplishment post-tenure may be eligible for the rank of Full Professor with a starting salary range of $95,000-$105,000.
- Relocation assistance may be available within University Libraries guidelines.
- Faculty receive limited professional development funds annually.

- Assistant, Associate and Full Professor Requirements: Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution;

- Knowledge of pedagogical and research methodologies in the sciences and/or engineering;
- Demonstrated ability to actively seek out partnership, collaboration, and input from others.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience in an academic or research library;
- Experience in outreach or engagement with communities;
- Experience providing user-centered reference or research support services;
- Experience in collection development with knowledge of trends and issues in academic publishing
- Academic or professional experience in Science, Engineering, or related fields
