Job Summary

The Alliance for Technology, Learning and Society (ATLAS) Institute with CU Boulder is currently accepting applications for an Outreach & Communications Associate! This position is responsible for supporting the execution of the ATLAS marcom strategy and fostering community relationships. The associate focuses on three primary objectives: facilitate industry engagement, philanthropic interest and community building; support student recruitment and enrollment in undergraduate and graduate academic programs; and raise the reputation and reach of ATLAS research. Responsibilities include leading community development initiatives, managing recruitment activities; and participation in planning and decision making.

The ATLAS Institute fosters radical creativity and invention by offering a full suite of interdisciplinary academic programs through the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) coupled with research labs focused on engineering, biotechnology, computing, design, fabrication, art and more.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Community Liaison:

  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, school districts, non-profits, donors, employers and other key collaborators.
  • Orchestrate initiatives that activate community members to participate in ATLAS programs through capstone sponsorship, job/internship recruiting, lab support and other outlets.
  • Field and respond to inquiries from community members.
  • Facilitate corporate sponsorship program.
  • Coordinate with ATLAS personnel to arrange meetings, tours and other events.
  • Learn to work comfortably with a range of science, computing and creative topics and technical content to effectively communicate the ATLAS vision and story in compelling and relatable ways.
  • Support social media strategy with recruiting, events and other content as needed.
  • Support B2 marketing needs and events promotion and documentation to elevate awareness, engagement and attendance among key audiences.
  • Develop materials to support recruiting events, ATLAS EXPO, Research Open House and graduation.

Student Recruiting:

  • Develop assets for student recruiting campaigns.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective students through key marketing channels.
  • Act as faculty coordinator and liaison for recruiting initiatives, tours and events.
  • Manage tours for prospective students and families.
  • Participate in tabling events for undergraduate student recruiting.
  • Manage and hire student ambassadors to support tours and tabling events.

Strategic Development & Growth:

  • Participate in planning for marketing campaigns, events, recruiting and other key initiatives.
  • Refine and develop skills in key marketing platforms, design practices and communications techniques.

Other:

  • Participate in professional development activities and serve on unit, college or campus committees as applicable.
  • Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What You Should Know

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work modality, consistent with the College of Engineering and Applied Science Hybrid Work Policy.

What We Can Offer

The annual salary range for this position is $57,100 - $62,000.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • 1 year of professional experience in marketing, community building, recruiting or a combination of these fields.

What You Will Need

  • Be a champion of all things ATLAS: academics, research, events and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with working in higher education in recruiting, advancement, marketing, communications or related fields.
  • Ability to understand and engage key partners with the right messages, assets and offerings.
  • Self-directed, prioritize workload, assign support tasks, set and meet deadlines (short- and long-term), and regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
  • Familiarity with a broad set of marketing and communications channels.
  • Clear analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines.

  • Ability to capture social media-style content at events.
  • Social media management for professional accounts on Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Giving and receiving practical feedback on creative projects and strategic plans.
