The ATLAS Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks to hire a curious, unconventional, polymath Tenure-Track Faculty member to teach and conduct research in areas of creative technologies and design.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

ATLAS is looking for people to cultivate a culture and community of innovation working in a variety of domains, for example but certainly not limited to:
  • Robotics and human-robot interaction;
  • Fabrication;
  • Virtual, augmented, mixed reality;
  • Technology in music and performing arts;
  • Data/information visualization;
  • Bio-inspired design.
A successful candidate will establish and lead a research group, produce internationally recognized work, and develop collaborative relationships in academia as well as industry and the community. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent experience with research and publishing within a company or organization. Applicants should be prepared to obtain funding to support their work and that of their students, and be excited to teach and work with undergraduate and graduate students from diverse cultural and intellectual backgrounds.

What You Should Know

We expect to hire at the rank of Assistant Professor, but experienced candidates may be considered for Associate or Full Professor. Appointments will be within the ATLAS Institute with a tenure home in an academic department appropriate to their research specialty/discipline.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $160,000 annually, depending on faculty rank. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on the University of Colorado pay scale.

What We Require

Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent experience with research and publishing or expect to have completed their Ph.D. at the time of starting a faculty appointment, in a field appropriate to their tenure home department or program.

  • Sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural, political, and geographical differences, with ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Evidence of diversity and inclusion skills in your research/creative/professional, teaching, and service activities.
