The University of Colorado Boulder Leeds School of Business encourages applications for an Academic Services Professional! The Office of Undergraduate Student Services at the Leeds School of Business is committed to supporting the education of the whole student and integrating student life with learning. In the process of generating and disseminating academic information and personalized requirements, we share knowledge through policies, practices, and programs for current students and their families, prospective students and their families, faculty, and other student affairs and academic affairs professionals campus wide. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Academic Advising
  • Act as advising lead for Leeds RAP student retention strategy, an advising caseload comprised of students living in the Leeds Residential Academic Program.
  • Advise students with a life design coach approach regarding academic requirements and co-curricular opportunities. This includes evaluating incoming credit, creating customized degree plans, proactive student interventions, intrusive outreach, and design/delivery of required advising workshops. 
  • Proactively connect with RAP faculty to identify and support at-risk students. 
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Academic Alert support for students in academic difficulty. Advising may be done in person, on the phone or via email. Must have a student-focused developmental approach to advising, and an understanding of how career goals and opportunities impact academic decisions. 
  • Provide holistic advising support that focuses on exploration, discovery, goal-setting and supportive connection. 
  • Collaborate with Leeds career advisors on a holistic process of exploration and decision making. Must have an understanding of developmental and academic issues that students face, and be able to support students’ transition to Leeds and CU Boulder.
New Student Onboarding
  • Manage summer advising for incoming Leeds RAP students, including content development for online orientation, developing advising-related communication for incoming students, managing pre-registration process and academic advising. These tasks entail considerable collaboration with Leeds first year advisor counterpart. 
  • Assist with development, coordination, and assessment of programming for Leeds new student welcomes events, onboarding, and course enrollment process. 
Student Records and Outreach
  • Actively track academic achievement progress and retention using Salesforce and other available student data. 
  • Monitor dashboards with integrated student success landmarks and perform outreach/intervention when students are off track. 
  • Proactively track, contact, and work with special student populations (e.g., early alert, high-risk, first generation, students who have not been in for an appointment, students in academic difficulty, high-achieving students, etc.) 
  • Use data to make informed decisions about interventions and program evaluation. 
Teach BADM 1250 – Designing Your Leeds
  • Participate in annual Designing Your Leeds instructor training and teach a minimum of two RAP sections. 
  • Provide advising support and deliver advising module in RAP sections. Be knowledgeable about Design Thinking and Life Design concepts. 
  • Hire and train a peer innovation coach to help facilitate in-class activities. 
  • Collaborate with instructor team on standard methodologies around teaching, grading, classroom management, etc.
Leeds RAP Program Administration
  • Work closely with the Leeds RAP director on all initiatives that support student success. 
  • Collaborate with RAP faculty and RAP director to determine RAP class offerings and enrollment. 
  • Hire, train and supervise Leeds RAP peer advisors in collaboration with manager of the Leeds peer advising program. 
  • Support coordination of Leeds RAP programming including planning, marketing and execution of events. 
  • Participate in the design and delivery of programming and structure to support the success of undergraduate students in the Leeds Residential Academic Program. 
  • Participation in weekly RAP team meetings, RAP-specific orientations and trainings for students, staff and faculty. 
  • Represent the Leeds RAP at prospective student recruitment events. 
Engagement in Cross-Campus First Year Advising Network
  • Actively engage in planning and collaboration as a member of the cross-campus First Year Advising Network, which includes regular meetings and trainings. 
  • Contribute to the development of first year advising student learning outcomes and ongoing assessment. 
  • Contribute to and participate in critical initiatives and goals related to campus-wide first-year advising and ensure alignment with key elements of the campus-wide first-year advising model; e.g., common approach to advising during New Student Welcome, consistent access for students, common approach to assessment of first-year advising outcomes, etc. 
  • Proactively develop knowledge of standard methodologies related to first-year student transition and advising through relevant conferences, mentoring opportunities, workshops, coursework, and research. Share that knowledge with others and work implement practices aligned with that knowledge.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • Help with various tasks such as orientation, graduation confirmation, commencement ceremony, probation and suspension, advising non-business students, preparing and presenting oral presentations, training and mentoring new employees, and acting as an outreach resource to the rest of the campus or community. 
  • May be called upon to lead training and professional development activities for staff, and may represent Leeds on departmental and university committees that relate to issues broader than their assigned caseload.

What We Can Offer

The salary range is $48,000- $52,000 annually. Relocation assistance is available within department guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • One year of related professional experience such as academic advising, career counseling or a professional position in a business setting. OR, a Master's Degree. Equivalent combination of education and experience may serve as a substitute. 

What You Will Need

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in strong written and oral communications, collaboration and problem solving.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Promotes creating an inclusive environment to reflect our values and vision at Leeds.
  • Willingness to work in an environment which may demand some flexibility or evening work.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Master's Degree in counseling, higher education, business, or a related field.
  • Willingness and skill in public speaking.
  • Experience in career counseling.
  • Experience with advising technology/programs (Degree Audit, Campus Solutions/PeopleSoft, TES).
  • Experience teaching first year seminar course.
