Job Summary
The Division of Public Safety at the University of Colorado (CU) Boulder is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Access Control Systems Manager to oversee the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the university’s card reader, intrusion and emergency device infrastructure! Collaborating with the Executive Director of Technology for Public Safety, this role ensures that the access control systems effectively support campus safety initiatives, follow applicable regulations, and remain aligned with the university's technology standards. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in security systems and access control technologies, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with multi-functional teams.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
System Management
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of security access control and related infrastructure, including card readers, panic alarms, intrusion systems, software integration, and biometric investments.
- Manage access control systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability for campus safety operations.
- Perform regular system audits to verify the functionality, security levels, users and compliance of security access control systems.
Operational Oversight
- Develop and implement procedures for card reader implementation, mobile credentialing, user access, system integrations, and retrieval in compliance with campus policies and privacy regulations.
- Ensure that the access control system is integrated with other safety and IT systems, such as video management, student housing, RTD, student dining, library services and emergency notification systems.
- Support the Emergency Operations Center during campus events and emergencies.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Public Safety, Facilities, and IT departments to plan and implement access control deployments.
- Provide technical training and support to staff responsible for operating and monitoring access control systems.
- Serve as the main point of contact for vendors and contractors related to security access control projects and maintenance.
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with partners to assess security needs and develop plans for access control and coverage.
- Ensure the system meets data security and privacy requirements, including encryption and access controls.
What We Can Offer
Starting salary range is $107,814 - $120,000.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in security management, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years in security systems management, focusing on access control and surveillance and with proven expertise in the installation and maintenance of card readers, cameras, and system integrations.
- Ability to obtain certification in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).

- Proficiency in managing software platforms for access control systems.
- Good understanding of security network infrastructure and system integrations.
- Solid understanding of physical security implementations, specifically in an educational environment.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under stress.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Certification in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
- Previous experience in higher education.
