Job Summary

The Digital Accessibility Office at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Accessibility and Usability Assessment Coordinator! This role is central to assessing the user experience of the university’s digital systems for users with disabilities. This role coordinates all stages of the assessment process, beginning with developing testing requirements with project and service managers, conducting testing with on-staff testers, and translating test outcomes into reports for service managers.

The position provides a wide range of opportunities for collaboration with other professionals - software developers, IT project managers, instructional designers, and online education professionals, at a flagship university with a broad portfolio of groundbreaking projects in instructional, technological, and support services spaces.

Who We Are

The goal of DAO is to improve the accessibility of the digital campus environment and increase opportunities for participation in the digital life of the university for individuals with disabilities by:

  • Supporting faculty and staff delivering digital services and content.
  • Supporting and evaluating compliance with university digital accessibility policies.
  • Directly supporting specific users.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Accessibility and User Experience Assessment

  • Assist DAO in determining assessment and testing priorities.
  • Work with assistive technology users to conduct accessibility testing of various digital technologies.
  • Identify and explain accessibility issues to CU constituents and software vendors.
  • Create accessibility documentation (reports, guides, etc.) for products/services assessed by the DAO.

Project and Software Development Cycle Support

  • Advise various CU entities on accessibility standard methodologies and help implement those practices in development efforts.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of accessibility training for CU developers and UX staff.
  • Serve as CU’s accessibility subject matter specialist during product searches and vendor discussions.

This position provides the opportunity to work in a hybrid capacity.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of experience in any of the following:
    • Experience with IT software and systems.
    • Experience in the field of accessibility, disability service, and/or assistive technology.

What You Will Need

  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of accessibility guidelines and legislation (e.g. WCAG, Section 508, ADA).
  • Writing skills and the ability to understand and utilize different forms of assistive technology.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience with project management.
