Job Summary

The Office of Admissions welcomes applications for an Admission Counselor. This position is responsible for representing the University of Colorado to various constituents including prospective students, family members, high school counselors and community leaders. This individual will be responsible for assisting in the development of a recruitment strategy in a designated regional territory. This individual will execute a wide range of recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, area receptions and individual meetings. This position is responsible for the evaluation admission applications. 
The Admission Counselor will join a staff where enrollment goals are clearly shaped and related admissions programming is carefully executed. A passion for results and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a team-focused and heavily performance driven environment are essential.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Create a recruitment schedule and strategy based on specific, targeted high schools throughout an assigned regional territory. 
  • Represent CU Boulder to a broad range of constituents at college fairs, community college visits, large-scale receptions and other recruitment activities in this region. 
  • Regularly pull and analyze historical data to inform recruitment strategy.
  • Conduct admission presentations to various populations. 
  • Advise and counsels prospects, applicants, and students on University admissions policies, procedures, and requirements. 
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with constituents in the university, high school, other institutions of higher education, government agencies, community based organizations and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder.
Application Review
  • Review and render admission decisions on undergraduate applications independently and as an active member of the admission review committee. Regularly pulls and analyzes applicant information to ensure a smooth admissions process for students.
Special Projects and Partnership
  • Serve as the project lead within an inner office team and/or as a liaison to campus offices. 
  • Participate in staff development activities including appropriate university workshops, conferences and programs, and state and national professional organizations.
  • Participate in admission related programs and activities such as campus visitation programs and new student orientation activities.
  • As appropriate, manage, train, supervise, and evaluate support staff, including student staff. Participate in all staff development activities.

Anticipated Starting Salary is $41,950.

What We Require

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Extensive overnight, evening and weekend work is required.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.  

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Involvement in a university’s clubs or organizations.
  • Recent graduate who has represented a university in some capacity (for example, as a Student Ambassador, Resident Advisor, student employee, etc.).
  • Conversationally fluent in Spanish.
  • As a role model for prospective students, the candidate should have a strong and positive university experience as a student and campus community member.
