Job Summary
The Admissions office at CU Boulder welcomes applications for the Admission Counselor position! We have two positions to fill. This role is responsible for representing the University of Colorado Boulder to various constituents including prospective students, family members, high school counselors, and on-and-off campus partners. They will execute a wide range of off-campus recruitment activities including high school visits, college fairs, receptions and individual meetings. In addition to these off-campus activities, they will host and support on-campus programming including daily presentations and campus events overseen by the Virtual and On-Campus Programs team. This position will evaluate domestic first year applications.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Build a recruitment schedule and strategy based on specific, targeted high schools throughout an assigned regional territory. Represent CU Boulder to a broad range of constituents at college fairs, community college visits, large-scale receptions and other recruitment activities in the region. Regularly pull and analyze historical data to inform recruitment strategy.
- Conduct admission presentations to various populations. Advise and counsel prospects, applicants, and students on university admissions policies, procedures, and requirements. Develop and maintain effective communication with constituents in the university, high school, other institutions of higher education, government agencies, community-based organizations and professional organizations regarding the admission of students to CU Boulder.
- Review and render admission decisions on undergraduate domestic applications independently and as an active member of the admission review committee. Regularly pull and analyze applicant information to ensure a smooth admissions process for students.
- Serve as the project lead within an intra office team and/or as a liaison. Participate in staff development activities including appropriate university workshops, conferences and programs, and national and international professional organizations.
- Participate in admission related programs and activities such as campus visitation programs and new student orientation activities.
- As appropriate, manage, train, supervise, and evaluate support staff, including student staff. Participate in all staff development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Should Know
- This position is expected to work in a hybrid format, working in the office 1 day per week at minimum. Extensive on-campus event coverage, overnight trips, and evening/weekend work are required.
- A valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle to meet recruitment expectations.

- The annual hiring range for this position is $54,060-$55,060.

What We Require
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, equivalent combination of education.
- Experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- At least one (1) + years of professional, job-related experience.
What You Will Need
- Proven ability to work well with strong-performing high school and college age students and their families, as well as a variety of multi-cultural populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A strong teammate who is also a self-starter.
- Willingness to enhance job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and keeping current with legislative and ethical guidelines and requirements.
- Proven dedication to creating a supportive environment that recognizes cultural competence in higher education.
- Due to the nature of this position, there will be non-traditional hours on select evenings and weekends.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Knowledge of the University of Colorado Boulder systems and programs including Slate, Outlook and Microsoft Suite.
- Two+ years’ experience as a territory manager or recruiter.
- Experience advising or supervising student volunteers or employees or working with college-age students in some capacity.
- Familiarity with the higher education landscape and admissions processes in a job setting.
