Job Summary

The Office of Admissions welcomes applications for a Technician I. This role evaluates Transfer courses from other institutions to determine which are transferable to the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB) for freshmen, transfer, readmit, graduate and continuing students, resulting in accurate class standing for registration, financial aid and course data for degree audit and graduation. In addition, this position reviews student transfer records to verify that a current evaluation has been completed on a timely basis for registration, New Student Welcome and advising, athletic eligibility, degree audit, and financial aid needs.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Counsel Students with Document Evaluation
  • Evaluate source documents for transferability of credit toward a student's degree program from courses taken at other institutions of higher education (domestic and international), advanced placement examinations, international baccalaureate examinations, CLEP examinations, A-Level examinations and military courses. 
  • Work with students regarding their transfer credit evaluations. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise related to transferring credits.   
Transfer Review and Customer Service
  • Research and interpret course content during the evaluation process by investigating course descriptions in college catalogues or by exchanging and collecting information with institutions in question. 
  • Determine if a source course has already been reviewed by the colleges/school at UCB. 
  • Use standard sources provided by TES, Singularity and CollegeSource to determine if course information has been submitted for review. 
  • Interpret rules and guidelines for parents and students, answering questions by phone and email. 
  • Educate or explain the specific campus rules, standards and procedures, State and federal rules and regulations to various constituents including trainees, staff, faculty, parents, and counselors. 
  • Maintain familiarity with the evaluator processing manual, FERPA regulations and supervisory staff to determine appropriate responses to questions and unique situations.  
Research and Course Criteria
  • Define Institutional Reference Tables to emulate transfer college, including: credit system, grading system, grading scale, and grade points. Identify the acceptability or equivalency of grades different from home college. 
  • Research new source institutions to create an Institutional Reference Table. 
  • Identify course to course equivalencies and reflect these in Articulation Tables. 
  • Identify one–to–one, many–to–one, one–to–many and many–to–many course equivalencies and code the articulation table appropriately for proper credit distribution.

What We Require

  • One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. 
    • Substitution: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. 
  • Must be a current Colorado resident. 

What You Will Need

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Comfortable presenting in a variety of environments.
  • Experience consulting with students in various formats.
  • Detail-oriented, motivated, and proactive.
  • Strong problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Higher education experience, specifically working with students and staff. 
  • Experience working with transfer credits.
