Job Summary

The Office of Budget & Fiscal Planning (BFP) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for an Anaplan Model Builder Analyst or Anaplan Model Builder Senior Analyst! This is a full-time position that reports to the Associate Director of Budget Management. The Anaplan Model Builder Analyst or Senior Analyst supports the Associate Director in the administration, build, and integration of the campus-wide budget tool software Anaplan. This role is responsible for providing best-in-class service to CU Boulder’s campus-wide Anaplan budget tool with a high level of technical skill, functional business process knowledge, and overall business sense. This work requires agile thinking to manage short- and long-term project needs while innovating solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The scope of this position may expand to serve other BFP office needs as the budget tool project grows. A current and valid Anaplan Model Builder certification is required.

Who We Are

The Budget and Finance team is responsible for providing university-wide leadership and broad strategic oversight in the monitoring, management, and control of the approximately $2 billion financial resources of CU Boulder. Budget and Finance is led by the associate vice chancellor for budget and planning and the assistant vice chancellor and campus controller and includes the Office of Budget & Fiscal Planning (BFP) and the Campus Controller’s Office (CCO). The AVCs work closely and collaboratively with executive leadership and budget and financial managers across the institution to provide strong management reporting, controls, and excellent customer service throughout the university.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Anaplan Model Building:
  • Assist in converting current user requirements into solution functionality and design modeling solutions in Anaplan that are scalable, multi-dimensional, and flexible.
  • Assist with software development lifecycle (design, build, test) and implementation for existing and new Anaplan models, reports, visualizations, workflows, functions, and tools.
  • Help to design and build future models and modules within Anaplan based on team strategic plan and stakeholder input.
  • Maintain current models by executing enhancements as needed.
Data Integration:
  • Support and manage data integrations from University of Colorado systems by working with campus partners to set up and maintain data flows into the Amazon S3 bucket and then into Anaplan via the Cloudworks API.
  • Test and validate that data from other sources is accurately displaying in the Anaplan Data Hub.
  • Troubleshoot any issues moving data from the Anaplan Data Hub through the spoke models to User Experience (UX) pages.
Customer Support and Training:
  • Educate collaborators on Anaplan architecture and functionality through demos, trainings, presentations, written documents, videos, office hours, and other forms of communication.
  • Assist in providing demonstrations and trainings on background system administration to internal BFP employees to keep office involved and up-to-date with tool developments.
  • Assist in providing demonstrations and trainings to campus on new and current User Experience (UX) pages.
  • Create training videos, step-by-step guides, and other written materials to be posted to the SharePoint website that houses end user resources.
  • Troubleshoot user issues, engage with end users, and provide solutions. Aggregate and assess end user feedback; surface important issues to the team.
Tool Support:
  • Perform all Anaplan system administration duties.
  • Enter and process all data, snapshots, actions, and processes required to start, pause, resume, and conclude each budget or compensation cycle.
  • Maintain current models by updating columns, data, etc. as needed year over year.

What You Should Know

  • This is a three-year limited term position subject to renewal. 
  • This position allows for a remote work modality.

What We Can Offer

The hiring ranges are: 
  • Anaplan Analyst: $75,000 to $98,000 annually. 
  • Anaplan Senior Analyst: $78,800 to $118,300 annually.

What We Require

Anaplan Analyst:
  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • One year of professional job-related experience. 
  • Minimum of one plus years of experience with the budget tool software Anaplan. 
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. 
  • Proven experience using Anaplan software to budget for an organization.
  • Current and valid Anaplan Model Builder certification.
Anaplan Senior Analyst:
  • Bachelor’s degree. 
  • Three years of professional job-related experience. 
  • Minimum of three plus years of experience with the budget tool software Anaplan. 
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Proven experience using Anaplan software to budget for an organization.
  • Current and valid Anaplan Model Builder certification.

What We Would Like You to Have

Analyst level:
  • Three years of professional job-related experience in Anaplan modeling. 
Senior Analyst level: 
  • Five years of professional job-related experience in Anaplan modeling.
  • Anaplan Level 3 Model Builder training completion or Anaplan Solution Architect certification.
Preferred qualifications for both positions are: 
  • Experience at an educational or public institution.
  • Experience building modules and UX pages in Anaplan for an educational or public institution.
  • Experience integrating large data sets from multiple sources into a single platform.
