Job Summary

The Interactive Geology Program (IGP) at University of Colorado Boulder is seeking to employ animators to work in a rebooted team-oriented research program. Details can be found at igp.colorado.edu. The program focuses on developing geologic content for K-12 education and public outreach. Animators are needed who can generate scientifically accurate, high-resolution scenes and videos.

Required skills:
  • Proficiency with any general purpose 3D modeling and rendering software.
  • Experience with video editing and compositing/motion graphics.
Preferred skills:
  • Experience modeling nature/landscape scenes.
  • Experience with creature modeling and animation.
  • Experience with all stages of production from planning to post production.
  • Experience with cinematography and video production.
  • Proficient with Blender, Terragen, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Bonus:
  • Basic Linux systems administration (provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, basic networking).
  • Basic GIS skills.
  • Background in geology or physical sciences, or experience with scientific animation/illustration.
Workers will have complementary skills and work in a team. Funding is confirmed for a minimum of two years and likely longer. Project has endorsement/sponsorship from national geo-agencies and groups.
