Job Summary
The purpose of this role is to assist with the healthcare of the Football student-athletes and Ralphie Handlers. It involves injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, examination and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions of these student-athletes. Responsible to assist the Associate Athletics Director of Health and Performance in maintaining the direction of the Athletic Department’s Sports Medicine Program.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Sport coverage:
- Prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation, reconditioning, and management of athletic related injuries for assigned sports programs.
- Has primary responsibility for sport health care of Football and Ralphie Handler student athletes.
- In conjunction with the rest of the athletic training staff, has responsibility for NCAA mandated coverage of all off-season conditioning sessions.
- Provide medical coverage for summer youth camps.
Student athletic trainer program:
- Instruct Masters Level Athletic Training Students in athletic training internships by developing a structured experiential learning curriculum, guiding the transition from theory to practice, and assessing core competencies.
- Assist with the recruitment of Masters Level Athletic Training Students.
- Assist staff athletic trainer in coordination of mass athlete physicals in August and September.
- Assist Insurance Coordinator with the collection of Fall and Winter insurance updates.
- Assist athletic training staff in the development of our monthly professional in-service program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Departmental Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of NCAA, BIG 12 Conference, University and departmental rules and regulations. The violation of NCAA or Conference rules on the part of Athletic Department Personnel may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
- Adhere to principles stated in the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement and promote loyalty to the mission by all staff and student-athletes under their supervision.
What You Should Know
- The position travels with the FB team top all away games, and bowl/playoffs. Typical away game travel involved packing and loading of sports medicine gear operations, traveling on the team plane, and providing athletic training services during the time at the away site. They also assist in packing, loading, and replacing sports medicine gear upon return to Boulder. Travel per year ranges from 5 -8 trips a year, based on post season success. The position provided athletic training services to only the FB team during travel.

What We Require
- Bachelor's Degree in athletic training, kinesiology, health sciences or related field.
- NATABOC Certification.
- 3 years of experience as a professional football Athletic Trainer at a Power 4 NCAA institution or in a NFL setting which must include 1 year of instructing undergraduate or graduate students in athletic training.
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
- Requires travel with the football team to all away games and bowl/playoffs, ranging from 5-8 trips a year. Location of travel are in the US and are determined by the NCAA and the Big 12 Conference.
