Job Summary

The Office of Admissions encourages applications for an Assistant Director of Communication. This position is responsible for developing the flow of communication for the business processes unique to the Office of Admissions as well as for partnering with college and enrollment colleagues to strategically weave in communication that relates to their unique business processes for prospective students. The Assistant Director leads the Admissions Office Communication team, which includes two communication coordinators; serves as the communication liaison to admissions recruitment, operations and visit teams; and works collaboratively with the Strategic Relations Admissions Marketing team to coordinate business communication efforts with central recruitment marketing efforts.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Serve as the communication liaison to multiple admissions (recruitment, operations and visit) and enrollment (e.g. financial aid, scholarships) teams and college partners to develop the flow of communication for the business processes unique to the Office of Admissions and enrollment process.
  • Interpret operational processes and propose communication strategies to effectively move students through the enrollment funnel.
  • Design communication (especially email) and deliver them through Slate, the Office's CRM system, the public web site and other platforms as appropriate.
  • Analyze engagement with communication, recommend and execute changes as appropriate.
  • Maintain publication and marketing collateral fulfillment and inventory system.
  • Monitor calendars and deadlines; respond appropriately to requests for materials; coordinate requests, prioritize, prepare and ship all materials.
  • Maintain inventory of publications and marketing collateral; keep accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Notify Strategic Relations Admissions Marketing team when print material reordering is needed.
  • Lead, train, supervise, coach and evaluate professional staff members including student staff.
  • Participate in staff development activities such as university workshops, conferences and programs and state and national professional organizations.
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team within the admissions office and liaisons with the Strategic Relations Admissions Marketing team.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities including: changes in regulations, technology, and standard methodologies.

The salary for this position is $50,000, non-negotiable.

What We Require

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 3 years of experience in managing communication projects (especially email projects) and/or marketing campaigns.
  • At least 3 years of professional writing experience.

What You Will Need

  • Skilled at facilitating work among communication specialists and admissions specialists.
  • Excellent verbal communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to self-monitor quality control and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and lead multiple communication projects at once.
  • Models quality customer service.
  • Ability to manage and analyze data.
  • Ability to expertly communicate with all levels of management including senior management.
  • Detailed knowledge of grammar.
  • Ability to build and send email communication and drip email campaigns.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communication, marketing, writing or closely related field.
  • 5 years of professional writing experience.
  • Experience with HTML and/or HTML content management system, especially Drupal.
  • Experience with customer relations management systems, especially Slate.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of Admissions and/or CU Boulder.
  • Experience assigning projects, delegating tasks, facilitating work and setting deadlines.
