Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment position is responsible for representing the University of Colorado Boulder to various constituents including prospective students, industry leaders and community leaders. This role will be responsible for developing relationships and implementing strategies for prospective graduate student recruitment. This position will be responsible for implementing a graduate recruitment plan as developed by the Director of Recruitment and Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment. The Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment will develop and deploy a wide range of recruitment strategies including, but not limited to, virtual information sessions for prospective students, social media campaigns, and off campus engagement opportunities, such as graduate recruitment fairs. Robust engagement via virtual platforms such as Zoom and LiveChat, as well as other third-party platforms is expected. This position will work with the rest of the Graduate Recruitment team to respond to phone and email inquiries.
In addition to direct student interfacing, this position is required to develop and maintain relationships with graduate departments/programs to understand their enrollment goals and develop clear lines of communication, particularly as they relate to admissions procedures. As such, the Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment will work closely with a number of different staff and faculty members across different offices and departments to ensure strong collaboration and communication between graduate programs and the Office of Admissions. The Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment will be expected to develop a robust understanding of various program admission requirements, faculty/departmental research highlights, academic and career pathways, as well as a broad understanding of campus-based resources for graduate students.
Additionally, the person in this position should be familiar with and observe professional ethics expectations including policies of the Office of Admissions and codes of conduct of professional organizations in which the university holds membership. The successful candidate will demonstrate a dedication to ethical standards and CU Boulder’s value of inclusive excellence.
This position is expected to work primarily with domestic prospective graduate students but will also require significant knowledge to assist prospective international graduate students. The position will travel domestically and may need to conduct some international travel for recruitment of graduate students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Recruitment and Outreach
With a focus on the prospect-to-applicant pipeline responsibilities include:
- Overseeing recruitment of prospective graduate students for all programs administered by the Graduate School. This requires maintaining professional relationships and clear lines of communication with college-level recruitment staff and/or departmental graduate program staff.
- Advise on key points of the graduate programs offered across campus, provide in-depth consultation to prospective students through the point of application, and provide ongoing and consistent contact management throughout the admissions process.
- Interact one-on-one with prospective students to counsel them regarding basic requirements for various degree options.
- Counsel prospective students on the best degree programs for the individual to achieve their educational and professional goals, assist with program comparisons and make customized recommendations to each student.
- Present to groups of prospective students in-person, virtually and via official university social media channels.
- Facilitate interaction between prospective students and departmental administrative staff and faculty.
- Catalog recruitment interactions within CRM (Slate).
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, LiveChat, etc.
- Participate in recruitment activities alongside other Graduate Admissions Staff.
- Participate in professional organizations such as NAGAP.
- Manage Graduate Recruitment Team LiveChat Account. Establish staffing schedule in accordance with the team's schedule and availability. Work with the Administrative Team to manage billing and payment for account. Oversee the transfer of prospects/leads from LiveChat to Slate, working with Data Management team when necessary.
- When necessary, provide presentations and workshops related to graduate admissions and recruitment for on-campus partners.
Reporting, Analysis, and Data Management
- In conjunction with Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment, track and report on effectiveness of recruitment and outreach strategies to Admissions leadership, Graduate School and other campus constituents.
- Serve as liaison for a number of campus partners and offices, including Colorado Diversity Initiative, Graduate & Family Housing, Tuition Classification (Registrar), Graduate Student Services, Veteran & Military Affairs and the Graduate & Professional Student Government. Assistant Director is responsible for reporting any updates/changes to these offices and their policies as they relate to graduate students to the Graduate Admissions team and, when appropriate, Admissions leadership.
- Develop an understanding of key markets and benchmark competitor institutions.
- Management of graduate prospect data. Work with Data Management team to ensure that prospects and leads received via name purchases, fair registrant lists, and other sources are appropriately loaded into Slate with all relevant data.
Strategy
- Partner with college and program constituents to identify recruitment goals and collaborate with said units to plan and implement a recruitment strategy that includes in-person and virtual events, including but not limited to: academic/research conferences, university-specific fairs, and other events hosted by third-party organizations. Additionally develop effective recruitment and outreach initiatives (webinars, outreach types, call/text campaigns).
- Work with the other Graduate Recruitment Team members and with Enrollment Management Marketing and Communications to develop digital and print recruitment strategies.
- Make recommendations on growth markets and potential target populations.
- Make recommendations on lead generation opportunities, including industry partnerships and name purchase sources.
Other Duties
- If applicable, supervise one full-time staff member and/or support staff, including student and temp employees. The Assistant Director will oversee the hiring, training, and mentoring of Graduate Recruitment Team's support staff.
- Assist with large undergraduate recruitment and yield events as needed.

- A valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle is needed to meet recruitment expectations.
- Overnight, evening and weekend work is required.

- The salary range for this position is $62,000 – $64,260 annually.

What We Require
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum of two years of progressively more responsible and independent higher education or admission related experience or equivalent.

- Work occasional evenings and weekends and be willing to travel domestically with limited international travel a possibility.
- Participate in events alongside Graduate Student Ambassadors.
- Partner effectively with the international graduate recruitment team.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Master's degree or graduate course work in business, education or associated subject area.
- Familiarity with graduate education landscape.
- Admissions experience including direct responsibility for recruiting in a college or university setting.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Slate).
- Three years of progressively more responsible experience in higher education or admissions.
- 1-3 years of admissions experience, preferably in graduate admissions.
