The candidate will direct and teach undergraduate and graduate students. We encourage candidates whose creative work engages the expanded field of contemporary art.

Qualified candidates should demonstrate a high level of creative research/practice and maintain professional standing in their field of art.  Applicants should have an MFA degree or equivalent professional experience at the time of hire. In addition to overseeing the Foundation Program, the new faculty member will be expected to develop curriculum in the Foundations area and to be an active citizen, participating fully in departmental and university service responsibilities. Description of Department:

The Department of Art and Art History affirms the power of art to transform people and societies. We are committed to the practice, production, critical and historical study of art within a liberal arts education that encourages experimentation and independence of thought. The art practices program is divided into five areas that offer degree tracks for the BA, BFA, and MFA degrees: Ceramics, Integrated Media Arts Practices (IMAP), Painting & Drawing, Printmaking, and Sculpture & Post-Studio Practice. The Foundations area works with the five art practices areas in developing a common introductory curriculum for all undergraduates in art practices. In addition, the department confers the M.A. and M.F.A. to graduate students from the Film Studies Program.  The department is committed to providing our students a depth of training in a specific field that equips them for interdisciplinary inquiry, whether in art history or in art practices. For the latter program, the five art practices areas provide a sustained inquiry in an artistic field that allows students to develop as creative thinkers, equipped to chart their own trajectories.
