Job Summary

The Department of Classics at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have strong research interests within the field of Roman prose literature and is expected to have a Ph.D. in Classics or a closely related field in hand by August 19, 2019. A successful candidate with the degree not yet in hand will be temporarily appointed at the rank of instructor until the degree is formally obtained.

Possible areas of specialization include but are not limited to oratory, rhetorical theory, historiography, epistolography, medicine and science, the novel, and philosophy. The successful candidate will also be qualified to teach a broad range of topics in Roman culture and literature in translation, as well as Latin language classes, at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

What We Require

Minimum Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. by August 19, 2019, strong research interests within the field of Roman prose literature, and the ability to teach a broad range of topics in Roman culture and literature in translation as well as Latin language classes, at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Candidates without a Ph.D. by August 19, 2019, may be hired at the instructor-rank until the degree is complete.
