Job Summary

​​The Department of Integrative Physiology at CU-Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The department welcomes applications from individuals committed to rigorous, interdisciplinary research who have expertise in integrative physiology. Integrative physiology is defined as the study of biological function from genes to populations and the effects on health and disease. ​

Who We Are

​​The faculty roster for the Department of Integrative Physiology includes 18 tenured and tenure-eligible faculty members and 13 instructor-rank faculty members. Research in the Department encompasses the entire discipline of physiology, ranging from the genetics of behavioral traits to the assessment of human performance and population health.​ 

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • ​​Establish a program of research that is supported by awards from extramural agencies. 
  • ​Contribute to the teaching mission of the undergraduate and graduate programs. 
  • ​Teach one Integrative Physiology undergraduate course (e.g. Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology, Cell Physiology, Biomechanics, Nutrition, Sensory Physiology) plus one additional course in the candidate’s area of expertise per year. 
  • ​Provide teaching and mentoring for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdoctoral fellows. 
  • ​Perform service for the department, university, and profession. 
  • ​Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative academic environment.​

  • ​​The start date for this position is expected to be August 2026.​

What We Can Offer

  • ​​The salary range for this position is $110,000-$115,000 (9-month salary). 
  • ​Candidates may expect a starting salary within the posted range depending upon accomplishments (including publication record and external funding) and years of experience); Start-up package, moving expenses up to $8,000 and a one-time recruitment incentive of $50,000 are negotiable.​

What We Require

  • ​​Completed Ph.D. 
  • ​Expertise in physiology (e.g., exercise and performance physiology, neuro- and sensory physiology, biomechanics, endocrinology, systems biology, etc.) or a related field (e.g., biology, genetics, neuroscience). 
  • ​Postdoctoral training. 
  • ​Research publications in top tier, peer-reviewed journals.​ 

What We Would Like You to Have

  • ​​Prior experience obtaining extramural grant support. 
  • ​Teaching experience (may have been obtained prior to receipt of doctorate). 
  • ​Conducting research that focuses on the physiology of health and/or disease and has the potential for interdisciplinary collaborations.​
