Job Summary

The College of Music at CU Boulder encourages applications for a part-time Assistant Recording Engineer! The Assistant Recording Engineer works under the leadership of the head Recording Engineer to record College of Music performances and educational programs. As a member of the Operations Team, this position also supports general operations and maintenance of performance halls, classrooms and rehearsal rooms in the College.

The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of the top comprehensive music schools in the country. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Record recitals and presentations of the College of Music, which can include Faculty Tuesdays, ensemble concerts, opera performances, and music theater performances. Provide basic sound reinforcement as needed, provide copies of recordings for archival purposes, and assist programs with sound and visual effects. Provide post-production quality control of student recital recordings as directed by the Head Recording Engineer. 
  • Assist Operations Team with duties that may include locker and instrument inventory and control, room setup and livestreaming of events.
  • Assist with maintenance and operation of College performance halls, which include Grusin, the Chamber Hall, and the Ensemble/Rehearsal room. Supervise student stage managers and student recording technicians as needed. 
  • Assist students with non-curricular recording projects for audition needs. Assist alumni, prospective students, or other affiliates of CU with recording-projects on a limited, space-available basis. 

What You Should Know

  • The work will be in-person on the Boulder campus. Evening and weekend work may be required based on the College of Music performance calendar.
  • This is a 50%, part-time position.

What We Can Offer

The annual salary range for this 50% part-time position is $25,000 - $26,500.

What We Require

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience may substitute. 

What You Will Need

  • This position requires excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 

What We Would Like You to Have

  • A background in classical music.
  • At least two years of related, professional experience in recording engineering.
