The Department of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the field of Gender and Sexuality Studies to start the fall 2026 semester.
Who We Are
The Department of Women and Gender Studies aims to foster critical thinking through an interdisciplinary approach to the exploration of gender and sexuality, as they intersect with structures of power in a range of cultural, historical and geopolitical contexts.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Teach a total of four undergraduate courses per semester in the Women and Gender Studies major and minor.
- This appointment comprises 85% teaching responsibilities and 15% service activities as needed by the department.
What You Should Know
This is a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position with a three-year renewable contract.
What We Can Offer
- The starting salary for this 100% full-time appointment is $60,000 over the 9-month academic year.
- Additional compensation may be available for summer employment, primarily teaching.
- A moving allowance of up to $4,000 may be available to the successful candidate.

What We Require
- Prior to the start of the appointment, candidates must have a PhD, or equivalent terminal degree, in Women and Gender Studies or related disciplines, including but not limited to Ethnic Studies, English, Sociology, Media and Communication, Political Sciences, Chicana Studies, Native American and Indigenous Studies, Psychology, African American and Black Studies, Anthropology, etc.
What You Will Need
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence of undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds in a broad spectrum of courses, including but not limited to Introduction to Gender, Race and Sexuality Studies, Feminist Theories, Queer Theories.
- Ability to mentor students, support students in internships, and lead student practicum.
- Ability to embrace innovative technologies that enhance student learning and develop and deliver high-quality courses in multiple modalities (i.e., both online and in-person).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to contribute to curriculum development and participate in divisional and departmental service activities.
- Outreach and community building skills, as the role may involve planning and coordinating community and academic events.
