The Leeds School of Business encourages applications for an Associate Director to drive the strategy and initiatives that support the Klump Center for Real Estate! The Center's mission is to build an educated talent pool of students for the commercial real estate (CRE) industry. Experiential learning is at the heart of the Klump Center’s mission, and the Associate Director will use their real estate industry experience and connections to develop, manage, and innovate inspiring programs and events for real estate students to deepen their knowledge and connections in real estate. The successful candidate will bring a combination of leadership, program development/management, technical skills, and mentor skills to the role. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
The Associate Director reports to the Executive Director of the KCRE and is a key role to ensure real estate student and alumni success. Together with the Leeds Career Services team, Klump Center board members, alumni, and other leading real estate professionals, the Associate Director will serve both graduate and undergraduate real estate students by:
- Crafting an understanding of career options in commercial real estate.
- Growing students’ knowledge and deepen technical skills in real estate through applied and experiential learning opportunities.
- Growing real estate internship/job opportunities.
- Providing real estate specific career guidance and job/internship placement assistance.
Student Engagement, Programs and Real Estate Career Support:
- The Associate Director leads and manages the Klump Center’s undergraduate and graduate student experiential and applied learning activities. The Associate Director implements programs and activities with the assistance of administrative and event support by the Klump Center Program Coordinator.
- The Associate Director provides graduate students with real estate specific guidance and facilitates industry connections to help students build a robust network of real estate leaders. The Associate Director is also the Klump Center point person to support CU’s real estate clubs.
Experiential and Applied Learning:
- Develop new activities for applied learning, specifically in the areas of real estate investments/finance, sustainability, and technology; identify internal/external partnership opportunities for applied learning.
- Develop, manage and grow the Klump Center Undergraduate Fellows Program, a competitive Center program that aims to instruct students about real estate industry trends, leadership, and other career focused topics.
- Manage the Real Estate Roundtable event, exposing students to various real estate careers.
- Support the Klump Center Teaching Faculty to grow the case competition workshop program; find opportunities to provide additional training and resources for students competing in competitions; manage and grow the Klump Center’s case library.
- Together with the Executive Director, develop real estate treks of leading projects and firms in key cities (NYC, L.A., San Francisco, Dallas, internationally).
Graduate Level Real Estate Career Support:
- Demonstrating deep knowledge of and connections to the real estate industry, support the Leeds Graduate Career Services office by providing graduate real estate students with real estate specific career support.
- Create and manage graduate level student programs to provide real estate specific career support and access to top real estate leaders; identify internal/external partnership opportunities with CU centers and industry organizations to implement these programs.
- Work one-on-one with MBA/MSRE students to advise them on real estate career related issues and determine their interests, strengths and abilities that align with specific real estate careers.
- Match eligible MBA/MSREs with available real estate internships and jobs; facilitate and arrange personal introductions to key industry professionals for students’ job and internship placements.
- Select, supervise and manage the Klump Center Graduate Internship & Placement Committee.
- Support Leeds Career Services with MBA real estate mentor connections from the Klump Center network; create and manage a new MSRE mentor program.
Real Estate Club Support:
- Act as the lead Center staff person to assist the undergraduate and graduate real estate clubs.
- Facilitate introductions to Klump Center partners for engagement in club activities.
- Ensure clubs are running smoothly, have strong leadership, as well as succession planning.
Real Estate Industry Outreach
- In partnership with Leeds Career Services, the Associate Director participates in developing the Center’s corporate outreach strategy that aligns with the Center’s Strategic Plan as well as the Leeds Strategic Plan. The Associate Director is responsible for establishing and reinforcing relationships with CU Real Estate Board members, real estate alumni, other leading industry professionals, potential donors and industry organizations for the purpose of student engagement, mentorships, and job and internship placement for real estate students.
- In partnership with Leeds Career Services team, apply the Klump Center’s executive level connections to develop a robust set of internship and job placement opportunities specific to real estate; facilitate HR recruiter introductions to the Leeds Career Services team.
- Frequently engage with industry professionals and national/regional real estate organizations (NAIOP, ULI, CREW, etc.) in order to grow new industry relationships and partnerships
- Assist the MBA Director and MSRE Director, when needed, to encourage prospective MBA/MSRE/MSRE BAM students to engage in Center’s academic programs, resources and extracurricular activities.
Real Estate Alumni Relations
- The Associate Director, in conjunction with other KCRE staff members, works closely with the CU Real Estate Network (CUREN) to keep real estate alumni engaged and facilitate lifelong learning.
- Engage Alumni in various Center programming and mentorship to assist current students.
- Act as the Klump Center representative to CUREN to help build a robust alumni group.
- Find opportunities for lifelong learning for alumni.
What You Should Know
- This role is in a hybrid work situation. This role will occasionally require evenings to attend or host events.
What We Can Offer
- $85,000 - $100,000. Relocation Assistance is available within Leeds guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) from an accredited college or university in an area relevant to the mission of the Klump Center for Real Estate. An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree on a year for year basis.
- 5 years of commercial real estate industry experience; preference given to those who have worked in real estate finance and/or trained staff in real estate underwriting and investments.
- Thorough understanding of the skills required to be successful in a variety of commercial real estate roles (financial analyst/underwriter, developer, broker, appraiser, etc.)

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook and Google docs).
What We Would Like You to Have
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in real estate, business, economics, education, or a related field.
- Extensive contacts within the real estate and business community.
- 10 years of proven experience with commercial real estate.
- Professional coaching experience and working with students.
