Job Summary

The Office of Industry Collaboration (OIC) is now welcoming applications for a Business Development Coordinator. The University of Colorado Boulder’s Research and Innovation Office (RIO) is the central point for support and advocacy for CU Boulder’s world-class scholarship, creative work, and research.  RIO seeks a qualified candidate for a Business Development Coordinator to serve the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (AVC), Industry Collaboration and AeroSpace Ventures team. This position will report to the AVC.
Increasing and improving CU Boulder’s engagement with industry is a top priority for the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, and for broader campus leadership. This position will be part of a dynamic team that is focused on building relationships and fostering collaboration internally across campus and externally through outreach and engagement with industry partners. This position will play a particularly critical role in measuring our efforts and success in these endeavors, particularly as it relates to expanding the CU Boulder research enterprise.

OIC was formed in July 2013 to enhance the connection between CU Boulder and local, national and international companies to the people, services, projects and resources they need to support business growth and development.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Coordinator for a variety of Industry Collaboration efforts
  • Concierge – serve as first point of contact and evaluation of phone/web inquiries for OIC/ASV. 
  • SalesForce – manage the data, fields, and reports in SalesForce. Serve as liaison with campus-wide efforts to move to a more streamlined/integrated CRM system. 
  • Metrics and Reporting – conduct monthly reviews of grants and contracts data to confirm appropriate classification of industry activities, review and clean up data from other sources. Develop annual (or more frequent) reports for Deans, Chairs, and Executive Sponsors.
  • Marketing Materials  –  develop specific products for industry or geographic sectors regarding working with CU (in collaboration with other personnel and other units, e.g., campus Advancement), e.g., capabilities slides, videos, etc.
  • Business Analytics – use internal and external resources to better understand organization, function, performance, and priorities of CU’s strategic industry partners. 
  • Training program - work with Industry Program Managers and Departments/Institutes to develop faculty-industry partnerships education program and organize training events.
  • Campus Corporate Relations Team (CCRT)  – co-coordinate CCRT to build relationships and share information on cross-campus corporate engagement.
  • Assist Industry Program Managers with development of proposals, scopes of work, and ad hoc financial reports as needed.
  • Assist with conceptualizing and implementing various workshops, meetings, and other outreach initiatives and special events.
  • Serve as communications liaison to RIO Communications Team to support external marketing and communications activities for office (e.g, website, newsletter, social media, drafting of monthly local Chamber of Commerce newsletter input).

What We Can Offer

Anticipated starting salary for this position is $60,000.00, commensurate with experience.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree at an accredited institution. Equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis. 
  • Two years of professional experience.
  • Experience with database management, business analytics and marketing

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. 
  • Ability to learn and respond quickly to situations that arise on a day-to-day basis.

  • Ability to apply strong teamwork skills to daily management of tasks.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively coordinate a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner to meet deadlines and expectations.
