Job Summary
The Department of Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a laboratory manager for the Center for Infrastructure, Energy & Space Testing (CIEST). The lab manager will manage the daily lab activities, coordinate lab staff, assist academic lab use by students and faculty, and actively seek funded external lab use. The CIEST lab is a large research experimentation facility with over 100 pieces of equipment for engineering materials, structural, and geotechnical testing. This position has an anticipated start date of Fall 2025.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Manage daily lab activities, including: ensure safety, enable use scheduling, oversee equipment maintenance, oversee budget.
- Assist academic lab use, including: facilitate project planning discussions, equipment training, and provide experimental resources, advise students and faculty on experimental design.
- Seek funded external lab use, including: maintain and establish new collaborations that leverage existing equipment and testing capabilities as part of service agreements with engineering practice and industry (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, and Aerospace).
What We Can Offer
- The annual salary range associated with this position is $75,000.00 - $110,000.00.

What We Require
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Engineering, Materials or Basic Sciences).
- Two Years Leadership Experience (e.g., laboratory management, supervisory or mentorship roles).
What You Will Need
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, or material engineering concepts.
- Ability to oversee lab projects, budgets, and timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and team coordination.
- Leadership skills to supervise lab staff and foster collaborations.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Graduate degree in relevant technical or management field (e.g., a MS/PhD in Electrical/Mechanical/Aerospace/Civil Engineering, Material Science, or a MBA).
- Experiencing in securing and overseeing externally funded initiatives.
