Job Summary
The Leeds School of Business encourages applications for a Career Coach! The primary role of the First- and Second-Year Career Coach is to work with 1st and 2nd year Leeds School of Business students in the exploratory phase of their career journey. This person will play a vital role in helping to set the stage for students in their undergraduate career journey. The Career Coach will work with students to help determine what career paths align with their skills and interests and build foundational career skills.
This role will guide students to resources and assist with resume reviews and mock interviews, lead group sessions, and provide workshops around professionalism. Career Coaches provide students with tailored guidance on recruiting, job search strategies, and industry-specific skill development. This position leads and performs Career Development events and programs along with other team members.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Career Coaching
- Provide one-on-one coaching and advising with students in the Leeds Business School's undergraduate program.
- Provide group and one-on-one coaching and advising to undergraduate first and second year students.
- Assist students with identifying career opportunities that capitalize on students’ strengths and interests.
- Stay up-to-date with trends and recruiting practices in business sectors (finance, management, business analytics, marketing, accounting, etc.) employer timelines, expectations, and technical assessment formats.
- Train students to be prepared for succeeding in their job search; this includes interview preparation, resume/cover letter review, developing and delivering an effective personal brand statement, and networking.
- Deliver individual and group resume critiques ensuring that students understand the importance of error-free and compelling resumes.
- Design, implement and evaluate foundational career programming delivered in 1st and 2nd year courses alongside faculty, staff, employer and alumni partners.
- Collaborate closely with faculty to determine appropriate career-based assignments.
- Work with Associate Director and other Career Coaches to develop and deliver curricular (potentially in class instruction) and co-curricular career management programming to undergraduate business population.
- Develop content for and conduct workshops, career panels and training sessions and signature events on various career topics.
- Develop and maintain resources (e.g., finance recruiting guides, case prep materials, technical skills modules).
- Collaborate with employer relations staff to support on-campus recruiting, employer events, and alumni engagement initiatives in the finance sector.
- Assist in the planning and execution of career treks (including employer outreach, student selection and preparation).
- Manage Leeds School of Business student entry points with the Career Development Office (Career Peers, first-time appointments, Designing Your Leeds, Leeds Professionalism Summit etc.).
Administration, Documentation & Tracking
- Use Salesforce to track all interactions with students and to track their progress and placement outcomes.
- Work with the Associate Director, Career Coaching to develop, coordinate and implement the collection of student career interest and progress data. In addition to collecting this data, this person needs to compile and understand the results in order to evaluate and address student needs in a timely fashion.
- Career Coaches are responsible for working with their students and the Career team to meet school-wide placement and response rate goals, along with any other broad goal for the Careers Office.
- Work with Academic Advisors, faculty, and other undergraduate programs to share information on student progress and needs and identify intervention strategies.
- Work with the team to ensure graduate contact information is collected and alumni contacts are up to date.
- Track student participation, completion, and proficiency on all assignments and manage grading. Use performance metrics to measure student engagement and progress on learning outcomes. Revise or build new assignments in response to feedback.
What You Should Know
- Hybrid work modality, with three days in office per week. The approximate schedule is Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. There will be a need to work occasional weekend days and evenings.
What We Can Offer
- $54,060 - $61,000. Relocation Assistance is available within Leeds guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) from an accredited institution. Experience can substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
- Business industry experience and knowledge of careers within field.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in business or staffing roles.

- Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communications.
- Ability to identify potential issues and apply problem solving skills to resolve any issues or challenges.
- Superior customer service skills when interacting professionally with corporate recruiters, students, faculty, administrators and staff.
- Ability to work independently to achieve allocated timelines while also working successfully in a team environment.
- Ease and skill in using technology including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, LinkedIn and other social media.
- Strong skills in establishing effective working relationships with faculty and administrators.
- Willingness to work occasional nights and weekends for specialized events and/or workshops.

What We Would Like You to Have
- 5+ years of professional experience in a business role.
- Prior career advising experience in higher education and/or industry-specific experience.
- Prior experience developing and tracking metrics to gauge student progress using a CRM or similar tool.
- Knowledge of Salesforce.
