Job Summary

Leeds is encouraging applications for a Marketing Career Coach! The primary purpose of this position will be to meet with undergraduate marketing students to help them understand the specific roles and requirements of working in the competitive marketing sector. This position will be responsible for meeting with students individually and in groups, to equip them to develop compelling resumes and cover letters, strengthen their interview preparation, enhance networking techniques, salary negotiations, and understand options for their job or internship search. This position requires a business background across multiple fields with a particular emphasis on marketing to provide career coaching to prepare students to identify career opportunities within the marketing sector and build relationships with companies that hire marketing students.

This role will lead and implement Career Development events, programs and classes along with other team members. The candidate will work closely with the marketing faculty and the Employer Relations Marketing point of contact. This position has high visibility with corporate entities and students alike.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Career Coaching

  • Provide one-on-one coaching evaluations, group workshops and advising strategies for students in Leeds' undergraduate program.
  • Use marketing knowledge to guide students on the various careers and requirements within the marketing industry and explain the array of roles within marketing.
  • Establish individually tailored coaching feedback based on students’ personal needs and questions throughout their time at Leeds.
  • Generate trainings specific to marketing for students to be successful in their job search; this includes interview preparation and knowledge of various company interview processes, resume/cover letter review, developing and delivering an effective personal brand statement, and networking.
  • Make introductions to key external Recruitment/HR contacts, companies, and alumni to aid in the networking process.
  • Develop and continually refine a realistic job strategy/work plan for both internship and full-time employment for students individually; actively monitor the process that will determine each student’s progress against career goals and provide guidance in the achievement of those goals.
  • Support students by being an understanding, empathetic and resourceful sounding board for students exploring their career options.
  • Collaborate with the Career Development Employer Relations team to identify successful event and engagement opportunities with marketing partners based on students’ interests, feedback, location preferences and abilities.

Career Education

  • Deliver well-designed curricular and co-curricular career management programming to undergraduate business population that entails producing content for and conducting workshops, career panels and training sessions on various career topics.
  • Participate in the development, delivery and grading of career assignments for upper-division classes.

Administration, Documentation & Tracking

  • Use Salesforce to track all interactions with students and document their progress and placement outcomes.
  • Work with the Associate Director, Career Coaching to develop, coordinate and implement the collection of student career interest and progress data.
  • Compile the collected data and understand the results to evaluate and address student needs in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for working with students and the Career team to meet school-wide response rate goals.
  • Partner with Academic Advisors, faculty, and other undergraduate programs to share information on student progress/needs and identify intervention strategies.
  • Ensure graduate contact information is collected and alumni contacts are up-to-date.
  • Develop reports to share with employers and provide suggestions to improve recruiting effectiveness.
  • Use Career Development resource tools to evaluate progress and areas for improvement in recruiting.

What You Should Know

This position offers a hybrid work modality, 8 am-5 pm, Monday - Friday with three days on-site and two days of remote work per week. This position requires occasional evenings and weekend days for specialized events and/or workshops (approximately a combined total of 5 evenings and weekend days each semester).

What We Can Offer

The hiring range for this position is $50,000-$60,000 annually. Relocation is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and one year of experience in marketing or business roles and knowledge of careers within these areas, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

What You Will Need

  • Knowledge of the entry-level job market and the use of electronic resources in the career exploration and job search process for college students.
  • Knowledge of marketing practices and strategy.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to take initiative and thrive independently, while also being successful working collaboratively.
  • Ability to problem-solve and determine solutions to meet partner needs.
  • Outstanding customer service skills when interacting professionally with corporate recruiters, students, faculty, administrators and staff.
  • Digital literacy and proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, LinkedIn and other social media.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with various partners.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing or business roles and knowledge of careers within these areas.
  • 5+ years of experience in higher education, career services, business or marketing.
  • Experience developing and tracking metrics to gauge student progress using a CRM or similar tool.
  • Experience working with Salesforce and running reports.
