Leeds School of Business encourages applications for a Classroom A/V and Lecture Capture Technician! Leeds Technology Services is the primary technology service provider for the Leeds School of Business community. It is a highly collaborative work environment with a strong emphasis placed on customer service. This position focuses on providing hands-on technical support for hardware, software, and AV technology across various spaces within the Leeds School of Business, including classrooms, labs, seminar rooms, conference rooms, and team rooms. The position plays a critical role in supporting the day-to-day functionality of teaching and collaboration spaces, ensuring reliable technology solutions for faculty, staff, and students.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Lecture Capture Services
This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of lecture capture services across the Leeds School of Business. This includes supporting both Mediasite and Panopto systems to deliver reliable, high-quality recordings that meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students. Key responsibilities include:
- Mediasite Lecture Capture: Setting up and managing recording schedules in the Mediasite portal for graduate and undergraduate classrooms. Daily monitoring and resolving issues to ensure that Mediasite recorders are functioning properly, verifying that recordings are capturing audio, video, and slide/screen content seamlessly. Recordings should be reviewed periodically throughout the week for quality, identifying and resolving recorder issues daily and weekly.
- Panopto Lecture Capture: Managing recording schedules in the Panopto portal for non-media site classrooms. Verifying that Panopto recordings are successfully captured with audio and slide content. This includes being responsible for automatic or manual uploads to the Panopto cloud via desktop software or external hardware recording devices like Matrox or Epiphan.
- Proactive Monitoring and Maintenance: Conducting regular checks of all recording hardware and software to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact scheduled recordings.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Responding to and resolving lecture capture issues promptly, including during live sessions when necessary, to minimize disruptions.
- Content Delivery and Quality Assurance: Ensuring that recorded lectures meet quality standards, with all necessary content components intact and accessible through designated platforms.
- Training and Documentation: Providing training and documentation for faculty, staff, and student employees on the use of lecture capture tools and systems, empowering users to enhance their effectiveness.
- Continuous Improvement: Collaborating with partners to find opportunities to enhance lecture capture workflows, incorporating new tools and strategies to improve the overall user experience.
Grad Hybrid Weekend Recording Support
This position is responsible for providing occasional in-person support for hybrid graduate class recordings 1-2 Saturdays per month during the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters. This responsibility ensures that graduate-level classes maintain a seamless recording experience, even outside of standard weekday operations. Duties include:
- Monitoring and managing live recordings in graduate classrooms to ensure successful capture of audio, video, and slide/screen content.
- Resolving any technical issues that arise during recordings to minimize disruptions.
- Assisting faculty and staff with lecture capture technology/microphone setup and operation as needed.
- Verifying that recordings are successfully saved and accessible on the designated platform after the sessions.
Classroom, Lab, Team Room, and Conference Room Technology Maintenance
This position is responsible for supporting and troubleshooting hardware and software across Leeds School of Business classrooms, the Bloomberg lab, team rooms, and conference rooms. Key duties include:
- Technology Support: Providing timely and efficient troubleshooting and repair of technology issues in classrooms, team rooms, conference rooms, and the Bloomberg lab. Ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution to maintain normal operations during class sessions, Monday through Friday.
- Classroom Incident Response: Responding promptly to classroom technology issues that arise during class time, implementing effective solutions to minimize disruptions and ensure continuity of teaching activities.
- ServiceNow Ticket Management: Monitoring and resolving tickets in the classroom support ServiceNow ticket queue, addressing reported issues quickly and efficiently.
- Technology Installation and Coordination: Assist with the installation of technology in team rooms and conference room spaces, completing installations as directed by the Leeds IT Director group.
- Escalation and Reporting: Advancing unresolved issues to the IT Assistant Director of Educational and Server Technologies when necessary and providing clear documentation of efforts.
- Lab Support: Performing regular maintenance and updates on lab computers to ensure that lab software operates as intended.
- Classroom Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance and updates on classroom computers to ensure that classroom computers operate efficiently and without interruption.
- Perform weekly classroom sweeps when classrooms are open (usually on Fridays) to ensure that all classroom technology is functioning properly, including testing desktop audio and video, laptop audio and video, document image camera video, and testing in-room microphones if applicable.
- A mediasite test recording should happen weekly during the time of the scheduled classroom sweep in each room, to ensure that lecture capture audio and video is being captured in each mediasite room.
- Offer and provide classroom A/V trainings to Leeds faculty and staff each semester.
- Manage lab software requests with OIT.
- Assist with the integration and maintenance of conference room and team room technologies.
Desktop Support and Event Support Backup
Provide supplemental help desk support both on-demand and during regularly scheduled help desk shifts, as required by the IT Associate Director of Operations, especially during times of staff shortages on the help desk. This includes:
- Responding to ServiceNow incidents and answering the help desk phones when on help desk shifts. This also includes providing remote support via Bomgar, and responding to help desk incidents in the field.
- If covering call center phones, this duty includes entering tickets into the ServiceNow ITSM tool as required. This position must follow the support procedures as outlined by the IT Associate Director of Operations via documented help desk processes. This includes ensuring the incident queue is being monitored to meet Service Level Agreements and that technicians are getting to scheduled appointments on time.
- This position will provide Event Support for key Leeds events in case 1) two people are needed to support A/V for the event or 2) the Event Support Technician is unavailable to provide A/V support. This includes both onsite and offsite events throughout the year.
EdTech Guidance for Leeds Faculty
This position serves as the primary faculty liaison for EdTech classroom technologies such as Canvas, Proctoring software, iClicker, Wacom, and any other relevant classroom technologies:
- Faculty Support and Consultation: Provide limited tier 1 assistance to faculty in resolving EdTech issues faculty may experience, advancing to OIT where necessary.
- Resource Development: Create and maintain up-to-date documentation and guides to assist faculty in using EdTech platforms on campus.
- Issue Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for faculty experiencing technical issues with EdTech platforms, providing prompt support and liaising with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) when necessary to resolve complex problems.
- Stay Informed on Updates: Keep abreast of updates and new features, informing and training faculty on relevant changes to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
- Liaison with OIT: Collaborate with OIT's Academic Technology Consultants to ensure that Leeds faculty have access to the latest resources and support available, including workshops and office hours.
What You Should Know
This position offers an in-person modality. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with one shift per week ending at 7:00 p.m. Additionally, this position requires 1-2 weekend days per month until 1:30 p.m. to provide A/V support for school events.
What We Can Offer
The hiring range for this position is $60,000-$68,000 annually. Relocation is available for eligible candidates.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 1+ years of experience managing audio-visual technology.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience building, implementing and maintaining Crestron and/or Extron AV systems.
- Experience with setup and configuration of technology.
- 5+ years of experience managing audio-visual technology in a higher education environment.
- 5+ years of experience managing classroom lecture capture, video conferencing and other AV systems.
