Job Summary

The Communications and Marketing Department, within the Division of Student Affairs, welcomes applications for a Communication & Marketing Coordinator. This position is part of a team of communication and marketing professionals who support the division's Health and Wellness departments as well as larger division-wide health and wellness initiatives. They will implement multiple communication campaigns across a variety of internal and external audiences, including students, CU Boulder families, CU Boulder faculty & staff, and division personnel. Communication campaigns will include content creation and design for print, email, digital, web, and social platforms. 

The Communication & Marketing Coordinator ensures that all content is professional, compelling, accurate, audience appropriate and conforms to AP and university branding and style guidelines. This positions requires excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, creativity and communications skills.

Who We Are

The Communications and Marketing department works collaboratively with Student Affairs departments to provide creative and thoughtful communication strategies and plans that support overall division goals and priorities. 

Our goal is to create materials that help educate, engage and positively impact the CU Boulder community through a variety of communication channels. Our services include communication strategy and planning, graphic design, event promotion, website design and maintenance, content development, social media engagement, photography, videography and email marketing.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Communication and Marketing 
  • Coordinate and implement multiple communication and marketing campaigns through a variety of channels including email, social media, digital, print and web platforms. 
  • Ensure that all media platforms are fully utilized and coordinated with larger division campaigns by working collaboratively with other members of Student Affairs Communication team. 
  • Create, design, review, and deploy communication tactics for a variety of campaigns. 
  • Assess communications for effectiveness and engagement. 
  • Understand the relationship between design, content, and user experience and therefore adapts content as needed for each medium and audience. 
  • Review and edit thoroughly all communication pieces at each phase of the creation and deployment process. 
  • Identify appropriate uses for videos and photos in the overarching communication plan. 
  • Maintain strong brand identity across all communication and marketing materials. 
Communication Liaison 
  • Work with departments within the Division of Student Affairs and campus partners to develop and implement materials consistent with strategic initiatives and branding. 
  • Remain knowledgeable of industry developments to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities including changes in regulations, technology, and best practices. 
  • Attend Student Affairs Communicators meetings regularly to provide project updates and to stay educated on other division priorities and projects.

The anticipated starting salary for this position is $46,000, commensurate with experience.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 years of experience creating content for marketing and communications campaigns. 
  • Experience creating for diverse outlets (web, print, social media) and audiences. 
  • Experience working with team collaborations in a marketing/communications environment.

What You Will Need

  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, editing, and proofreading skills. 
  • Knowledge of pertinent college health issues including but not limited to stress, sleep, nutrition, alcohol and other drug use and mental health.
  • Organizational and time management skills, ability to set priorities, balance a fast-paced workload, adhere to a schedule and meet deadlines.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing, Advertising, Journalism, English, or closely related field. 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Experience using CSS, HTML and/or a content management system, especially Drupal. 
  • Experience with customer relations management systems.
  • Experience in public health or related field.
