Job Summary

Student Affairs Communications encourages applications for a Communications and Marketing Program Manager! This role manages strategy for several key areas. In this role, the Program Manager supports Health and Wellness Services. This role serves as the primary liaison and partner to departments like Health Promotion, Recreation Services, Disability Services and provides support for other Health and Wellness departments and initiatives like mental health and well-being and suicide prevention. They will provide creative solutions to meet department and division communication needs, while maintaining a focus on and advocating for constituent experience and needs. This position is responsible for creating and implementing numerous communication campaigns, including content and design for print, web, digital, email and social platforms. In addition to departmental and campaign support, this position will also be responsible for health and wellness related content writing for articles, web and email communications.

The Communication & Marketing Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of key communication and marketing campaigns across a variety of internal and external audiences, including incoming, undergraduate and graduate students, families and faculty and staff. The Program Manager ensures that all content is professional, compelling, accurate, audience-appropriate and conforms to AP and university style guides. This position may supervise student employees.

This position requires excellent attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, and communications skills. In emergency situations, this position may be required to support crisis needs on nights and weekends.

Who We Are

Student Affairs Communications is dedicated to supporting the Division of Student Affairs with essential communication and marketing needs. We are a resource for the division and its departments to develop and implement communication plans and tactics that educate, engage and positively impact the CU Boulder community. SA Comm works closely with Strategic Relations and other campus partners to ensure integrated campus-wide marketing and communications.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Project Management

  • Responsible for the development and execution of communication campaigns to meet division and department goals, including articles, email, print, web, digital engagement, photography and videography.
  • Ensures that all media platforms are fully applied and coordinated with larger Division and campus campaigns by working collaboratively with other members of the Student Affairs Communication team.
  • Understands the relationship between design, content and user experience and therefore adapts content as needed for each medium.
  • Maintains strong brand identity across all communication and marketing materials.
  • Responsible for managing and coordinating the distribution of content.
  • Responsible for the prioritization of multiple print and digital media projects and requests, including establishing timelines and objectives to ensure client needs are met.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to both professional and student staff to ensure a successful and effective team environment.
  • Manages work load, as well as content and creative processes, to ensure meeting target dates, creating accurate and brand compliant communication and meeting department expectations and needs.
  • Reviews and assesses data to improve communications and increase engagement.
  • Reports and brings up issues to the Assistant/Associate Director of Communication as needed.

Communication Liaison

  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with Student Affairs departments, Health and Wellness departments and campus partners to assess needs, provides solutions and develops and implements materials consistent with critical initiatives and branding.
  • Manages communication plans to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Stays abreast of industry developments to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities including changes in regulations, technology, and standard processes.

  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to follow the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees are responsible for providing proof of vaccination or receiving a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.
  • This position will be a hybrid position with 2 days required to be on campus per week. On Wednesday's our full team is required to be on campus.

What We Require

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute
  • 3 years experience managing websites and digital communication projects, digital marketing campaigns and/or in a copywriting, communications, public relations or related position.
  • Experience working with team collaborations in a marketing/communications environment.

What You Will Need

  • Experience using CSS, HTML and/or a content management system, especially Drupal.
  • Experience using Salesforce and Marketing Cloud or other mass email sending platforms.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, editing and proofreading skills.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, marketing, advertising, journalism, English, or closely related field.
  • 5 years of experience managing communication and marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in higher education or creating marketing and communications materials for college students or families.
  • Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience in public health, health communications or related field.
