Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Athletics Department encourages applications for a Community Outreach Manager! The purpose of this position is to manage various outreach initiatives and programs for CU Boulder Athletics. As our Community Outreach Manager, you will coordinate current events and programs such as the Chip Kids Club Program, the Ralphie’s Kids Roundup (RKR) program. Additionally, you will help plan and manage to completion, community outreach events such as Kids Run the Game, National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Folsom Field Day, Brave Buff and Awareness Days at CU athletic games/events.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Program/Event Management
Manage Chips Kids Club Program, duties include:
  • Write and send out bi-weekly newsletters.
  • Answer e-mail/phone and respond to questions.
  • Coordinating events for each sport.
  • Promote Kids Club membership.
  • Supervise the loyalty program.
  • Supervise Chip’s Kids Club Area at all home football games. 
Manage Ralphie’s Kids Roundup (RKR) program
Duties include:
  • RKR provides an opportunity for Colorado kids to come to campus and experience college sports at the University of Colorado. RKR is geared towards working with underrepresented youth (low income, at-risk, first-generation, students of color, non-traditional students, etc.) 
Duties of managing this program include:
  • Keep database up to date.
  • Identify and make connections with new groups who qualify for the program.
  • Collaborate with campus departments including Athletic Department DEI team to plan programming for campus/game day visits.
  • Work with ticket office on ticket allotment and distribution. 
Help plan and complete community outreach events such as Kids Run the Game, National Girls and Women in Sports Day, Folsom Field Day, Brave Buff and Awareness Days at CU athletic games/events.
  • Assist with community activation at select home games and events for all sports.
  • Coordinate Fall Welcome, Homecoming and Family Weekend events.
  • Manage community relationships.
  • Create new connections and foster relationships with non-profits and community organizations.
  • Assist Spirit Squad Director with Chip, Cheer and Dance appearances, clinics and events.
  • Assist Ralphie Live Mascot Program staff as needed with fundraisers, appearances and events.
  • Manage game day interns. 
Leadership Through Service:
  • Assist with planning of Leadership Through Service initiatives including working with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
  • Assist with coordinating and attending student-athlete appearances/service events and manage appearance requests.
Content Creation and Organization:
  • Coordinate and fulfill donations from CU Athletics to non-profit organizations and manage the donation's database.
  • Manage all correspondence sent to CU Athletics Community Outreach including e-mail, mail, and phone calls.
  • Coordinate website and social media content for all community outreach efforts.
  • Serve on the OEPN (Outreach and Engagement Professionals Network) through the Department of Community Outreach and Engagement.
  • Manage tracking of student-athlete Leadership Through Service hours and volunteer sign up platforms. 
  • Manage volunteer opportunity list and contact database.

What You Should Know

  • Must be available to work after 5 pm and on weekends for events, games and special occasions.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. 
    • New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary range is $45,000 - $50,000 annually.
  • Additional Compensation Details: 
    • Relocation is available within department guidelines.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree. 
  • Previous experience developing and implementing promotional activities and events. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to complete community outreach sponsored obligations.
  • Ability to lead and supervise students.
  • Experience working with community groups or youth organizations
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, judgment, initiative and attention to detail.
  • Digital literacy including experience in desktop publishing (illustrator, Photoshop, etc).
  • Must be familiar with social media networks.
  • Comfortable with public speaking at events and functions.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, plan schedules and coordinate events.
  • Dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • 1+ years of corporate, collegiate or professional sports promotional/marketing experience.
  • 1+ years of experience developing and implementing promotional activities and events.
  • Experience in community relations, PR, or non-profit work.
  • Operated or managed a community wide event.
