Job Summary
The Center for Cultural Connections & Community with CU Boulder is currently accepting applications for a First-Generation Programs and Enrichment Coordinator! This position is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of ground-breaking educational campus-wide innovative programming designed to support the success of first-generation and first-generation, low-income (FGLI) students. In addition, the position will work collaboratively with the campus community in addressing issues related to historically underrepresented and/or underserved students. Some weekend and evening hours are required. The position reports to the Program Director for First-Generation Programs and Enrichment.

The Division of Student Life consists of 30 departments that provide student support and services dedicated to helping students become successful, curious, competent individuals during their time at CU Boulder.
The work in Student Life supports all factors of the student experience, no matter what department a staff member may work in. This includes where students live, eat, make friends, build professional skills and find help if they need it. Many departments provide involvement opportunities, educational resources and support services to help students find their community and build lifelong skills. Student Life also has shared services departments that support the work and staff of our student-facing areas, including areas like center for assessment, insight and research, business services, finance, employee experience, communication and marketing and technology solutions.

The Center for Cultural Connections & Community (The Center) supports students in the exploration of all their identities. The Center is a welcoming and inclusive space on campus that supports academic and personal growth. Students can become active, informed global citizens by engaging and interacting with individuals from different cultures, and staff provide community-building programs and educational opportunities for students to learn and teach.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Campus-Wide Programming, Development, & Coordination:
- Assist the Program Director with first-generation presentations, conferences, retreats, and workshops, as well as campus-wide first-generation initiatives such as First-Gen Fridays and National First-Generation College Celebration Day
- Assist and support CISC-wide and campus conferences and programs
- Assist in creating and implementing programs that invite all students to communicate across lines of race, ethnicity, sex, religion, gender, class, sexual orientation, and other social identities
- Assist with intercultural student leadership training/conference programs (i.e. IGNITE) that emphasize diversity, equity, and inclusion in collaboration with other departments, staff, and faculty (i.e. Men of Excellence)
Engagement and Collaboration:
- Serve as program liaison for the NASPA First Generation Forward Network
- Manage the First-Generation Faculty & Staff Directory
- Lead the coordination and development of the L.I.N.K. (Liberate, Inspire, Nourish, Know) Cooperative, a dynamic working group comprised of campus partners from across the institution aimed at impacting the well-rounded first-generation student experience
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with colleagues across divisions such as Student Affairs, Registrar, Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs
- Assist with the collaboration of faculty and staff in the broad-based promotion of inclusion, social change, and campus diversity via campus-wide programming and support for first-generation and underrepresented students
First-Generation Scholar Student Support:
- Assist the Coordinator for the First-Generation Scholars Program, as needed, to advise students in the First-Generation Scholars Program, specifically during their first year of programming requirements, as needed
- Refer scholars to appropriate campus resources areas for support, as needed (i.e. Student Academic Success Center, Center for Student Involvement, Basic Needs Center, etc.)
Operations, Assessment, and Fiscal Responsibility:
- Collect and track quantitative and qualitative university data and trends for training needs and partnership development for First-Generation students
- Supervise student staff supporting the First-Generation program
- Provide timely/pertinent budgetary information to supervisor throughout the year
- Process university fiscal paperwork promptly and accurately
- Routinely assess the necessity of various expenditures, including but not limited to programming activities, student recognition, and professional development/training
- Meet deadlines for all requests for reports, data, publications, and budgets
- Ensure the responsible planning and expenditure of fiscal resources in a manner consistent with good fiduciary responsibility
- Actively strive to foster and maintain a workplace climate that is supportive of employees and respectful of difference, as well as to create a learning environment for students that encourages personal development, self-reflection, and academic success
What You Should Know
The anticipated schedule for this position is:
- Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm during the academic year
- Monday -Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm during the Maymester and summer months
- May be required to work nights and weekends
Hybrid work modality is possible and variable, to be discussed at time of hire.
What We Can Offer
The annual salary range for this position is $62,000 - $64,000.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or other related field and two years of post-bachelor experience with campus-wide programming and advising first-generation and/or underrepresented students
What You Will Need
- Ability to develop and manage programs, courses, events, and content to scale impact across various constituent groups
- Ability to engage, teach, and energize various constituent groups
- Knowledge of higher education leadership and administration, structure and governance, and factors that affect decision-making at a research institution
- Understanding of nationally recognized practices, trends, and procedures for first-generation and underrepresented students
- Capacity to work effectively with persons from a diverse set of backgrounds to promote an inclusive campus and community culture
- Listen and communicate clearly in written and verbal formats
What We Would Like You to Have
- Demonstrated experience in project management and/or student program planning experience developing and facilitating diversity and inclusion presentations and student success workshops
- Proven experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
- Master’s degree in higher education administration or related field, and a minimum of three years of relevant full-time professional experience in post-secondary education administration including professional experience in program planning, assessment, and decision-making
- Leadership experience in retention program development and diversity programming/education
- Demonstrated experience in understanding issues and trends in higher education programs that focus on the retention needs of low-income first-generation, historically underrepresented, marginalized and/or underserved college students
- Demonstrated experience with providing high-impact and culturally engaging educational programs
