Job Summary

Residence Life at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Coordinator for Graduate Student Experience! This role is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position with educational, leadership, administrative, and advising responsibilities. The primary purpose of this position is to lead a community that provides programmatic opportunities for residents to connect with the four Res X responsibility areas: Social Justice, Personal, Academic, and Community.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Community and Leadership Development

  • Provide recommendations, facilitate, and evaluate Residential Experience programming, and maintain budgets and other fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Promote an inclusive student-centered residential environment that supports the academic mission of the institution.
  • Intentionally pursue avenues for infusing academic connections and learning experiences in the residential environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff within academic programs at the graduate school to strengthen academic partnerships.
  • Actively seek out opportunities for student leadership and involvement including advising Graduate Resident Council.
  • Provide intentional opportunities for graduate students to connect with each other and also the campus community including social events and moments to share their research.

Operations and Administration

  • Maintain regular interaction with facilities, environmental services, dining, occupancy management, and other key university partners.
  • Orient new residents to lease and housing policies.
  • Management of roommate agreements, mediation, and partnering on apartment change processes.
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of a residential environment.
  • Coordinate processes such as community move-in, safety checks, damage billing, and move-out.
  • Fiduciary over community budgets.
  • Support the management and operation of the community center.
Human Resource Management
  • Coach, mentor, supervise and develop staff to become effective student leaders and conduct all performance reviews and mentor sessions as appropriate.
  • Support recruitment, hiring, and training processes for student and professional staff and actively seek opportunities for inclusive practice in all facets of human resource development.
  • Facilitate Residence Life communication efforts across all community staff positions.
  • Participate in Residence Life committees and working groups to provide insight related to the needs of residents and staff in Graduate and Family housing.

Student Conduct

  • Serve as a student conduct hearing officer for departmental and university level violations and pursue opportunities for student learning within community impact.
  • Interpret and enforce graduate and family housing and university policy and regulations and seek proactive approaches to communicating with students.
  • Use the Maxient database for student conduct, crisis, and students of concern.

Emergency Response

  • Serve in an on-call rotation for 2,000+ residents and provide crisis management assistance and follow-up.
  • Identify students of concern in the community and facilitate connection with university resources as appropriate.
  • Uphold all departmental and university crisis response policies and procedures.

What You Should Know

What We Can Offer

The annual salary is $42,000. Onboarding assistance is available within Student Affairs division guidelines.

What We Require

A Bachelors degree. Appropriate experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Proven dedication to fostering inclusive living communities.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Experience working with graduate student populations in a higher education setting.
