Job Summary
The College of Arts & Sciences at CU Boulder encourages applications for a Curriculum Specialist position! This professional position is a resource to students and advisors regarding the application of coursework (especially transfer coursework) to the College of Arts & Sciences curriculum and the application of college curricular policies to students' records. A primary responsibility for this position is deciding the transferability of courses from other colleges and universities to the University of Colorado and maintaining transfer tables in the computerized degree audit system. Another key responsibility is adjusting individual student degree audits so that degree progress and degree requirements are accurate. This position works with the Assistant Dean of Academic and Curricular Affairs to interpret and apply policies and rules to students. The position requires a proven ability to interpret, apply and explain complex policies and procedures. In addition, the individual in this position must possess strong communication, organizational and analytical skills.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Evaluation and Articulation of Transfer Credit:
- Determine if courses taken at other universities and colleges transfer to the University of Colorado at Boulder for undergraduate students.
- Determine the applicability of transfer courses to the College of Arts and Sciences curriculum.
- Assess whether transfer courses have exact equivalents at the University of Colorado at Boulder. If not, determine the appropriate department and course level.
- Approve appropriate transfer course substitutions for curriculum requirements.
- Review and respond to petitions about the transferability and applicability to curriculum requirements if courses students plan to take at other institutions.
- Work with the Assistant Dean of Academic and Curricular Affairs on policies regarding transfer credit.
Maintain Student Degree Audits:
- Adjust students' computerized degree audits so that students and academic advisors have access to an accurate report of students' academic standing.
- Adjust College of Arts and Sciences audits at the request of the Deans of the College.
- Adjust major and minor audits at the request of academic departments and programs.
- Approve appropriate course substitutions based on transfer work.
- Maintain a record of decisions about transfer courses accurately in the degree audit system.
- Partner with the College’s Degree Audit Coordinator to maintain appropriate processing of transfer credit in degree audits
Curriculum and Policy Resource:
- Interpret and explain curricular policies and their applicability to specific student cases verbally and in writing.
- Review, resolve and respond to curricular petitions and queries from departmental advisors, students, faculty and staff arising from transfer course work or other sources.
- Advise students and academic advisors regarding options for completing graduation requirements based on applicability of courses taken at other institutions.
- Work with other campus offices as needed to gather information on student petitions.
- Reevaluate transfer credit at the request of students or their advisors, and explain the reasons for decisions
What You Should Know
This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with some days in person and some remote.
What We Can Offer
The annual salary for this full-time position is $56,000-$60,950.

What We Require
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- 1+ years of experience working in an academic setting that includes experience working with students with transfer credit or transfer credit evaluations.

What We Would Like You to Have
- Master's Degree.
- At least 1 year of advising experience in an education setting.
- Experience in transfer credit evaluation.
- Experience with complex academic audit systems.
