Job Summary

Campus Dining Services at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Custodian I! This position is responsible for a variety of custodial tasks, including cleaning, disinfecting and sanitizing CDS facilities, as well as trash, compost and recycling removal. Additionally, Custodians assist with equipment and chemical storage and maintenance, in addition to emergency and other tasks as needed.

Campus Dining Services leads the industry with outstanding quality food and dining experiences. Campus venues include residential dining halls, catering and retail outlets with staff who strive to make each student's experience the best it can be. Serving about 3 million meals each year, Campus Dining Services is dedicated to expanding sustainability efforts and providing options to guests with dietary restrictions and allergens.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Cleaning, Vacuuming & Recycle/Composting

  • Empty the contents of all compost, trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of materials into the appropriate containers.
  • Dust wash windowsills, blinds, woodwork, doors, clean elevator walls and control panels, as well as overhead pipes, light fixtures and all unobstructed horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Ensure that all reusable hand towels are in appropriate container for pick up from linen company and that clean linens are distributed.
  • Ensure all coolers and freezers are clean and sanitized.
  • Schedule and perform cleaning of all dry goods store rooms.
  • Use backpack vacuum to thoroughly clean and spot-clean all four dining floor surfaces, stairwells, entryway mats and elevator door tracks.
  • Schedule all daily cleaning of hard surface floors with floor scrubber.
  • Close all open windows, turn off lights and close and lock doors.
  • Assist with the set up and break down of special events when needed.

Chemical & Sanitation

  • Perform titrate tests weekly on all chemical sanitation dispensers.
  • Ensure all mop sinks are fully stocked with appropriate chemicals daily and are dispensing at accurate concentration.
  • Ensure that all safety data sheets are present and in designated locations and updated. Inspect and ensure all hand sinks are stocked daily ensuring that they are clean with hand towels, soap and nail brushes as well as compost bin for dirty towels.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Clean and perform minor maintenance on all custodial equipment to keep it in functional working order.
  • Report all equipment needing repairs to the supervisor.
  • Empty and clean all vacuums and buckets daily.
  • Keep the custodial workstation clean and organized.

Emergency & Miscellaneous Work

  • Perform initial emergency clean up and keep inventory of emergency overnight kits.
  • Move or assist in the moving of heavy furniture.
  • Extract carpeted floors and upholstery with disinfectant, by hand, or with extractor.
  • Stripping and finishing of hard surface floors and extracting of carpets as assigned.

What You Should Know

  • Position with CDS are considered Essential Services.
  • This position may be asked to work nights and weekends.
