Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder for the campus in Boulder, CO seeks a Custodian I – University Memorial Center to set up and take down lectures, meetings, banquets, and conferences that take place in the University Memorial Center (UMC); responsible for cleaning the UMC and supporting recycling efforts; primarily responsible for setting up tables and chairs, video projectors, slide projectors, sound equipment, banners, removal of existing furniture, resetting rooms, AV/PA support as well as a full complement of the conference support related services including opening the meeting rooms prior to the start of each meeting, banquet, or lecture and providing water set up for meetings; work directly with each customer to ensure the setup meets their individual and specific needs; check restrooms to ensure they are clean and fully stocked with toilet paper, hand towels, and trash liners; vacuum and shampoo carpets; strip, reseal and wax floors throughout the building during breaks in the academic schedule; dust and mop office spaces; clean walls and light fixtures; dust furniture, clean windows to entrances, offices, display cases, and meeting rooms; clean up spills, trash and debris in the hallways and common areas; properly sort recyclable and products from the landfill waste.

What We Require

  • 6 months of experience in university setting as a custodian or in related occupation.  
  • Completed Bloodborne Pathogen Training. 
  • Completed an awareness training. 
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds of weight occasionally, up to 50 pounds of weight frequently, and up to 20 pounds of weight constantly.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand, and bend for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to extend hands and arms in any direction and size, grasp, or turn with hands.
  • Ability to train others through explanation, demonstration, supervised practice, or make recommendations on the basis of technical disciplines.
