Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder Athletics department encourages applications for a Custodian! The purpose of this position is to help provide a clean, safe and sanitary environment for all users of the Athletic Department facilities and by providing total customer service for department staff, student athletes, University community, and the general public. 

This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department’s Mission Statement, Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Pac 12 Conference and the NCAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Clean Athletic Department Buildings: 
  • Maintain building entrances and building security. 
  • Empty trash containers, pick up trash around the buildings, sweep and shovel snow. 
  • Maintain restrooms and locker rooms in all Athletic Department facilities: clean, stock and sanitize restrooms and shower facilities. Clean all painted and tiled walls and windows. Adjust work schedule when needed to be able to clean up after the event while not affecting the other work that needs to be completed. 
  • Assist in maintaining the security of each Athletic Department building. After discovering maintenance issues report to supervisor and maintenance unit. 
Maintain Hard Surface Floor: 
  • By sweeping, mopping, and waxing. Determine the accurate dilution rate and the type of chemical(s)to use. Clean carpet flooring by vacuuming, shampooing and extraction cleaning. 
Follow Campus/Department Green Sustainability Standards: 
  • Accurate sorting of waste from the building into designated compost, recycling and trash containers. 
Power Wash Floors: 
  • Stadium, showers, locker rooms, and chairs. Decide which areas need to be power washed based on events, work schedules, and team travel.

What You Should Know

  • This is a full-time, on campus position. Overtime is available.
  • Morning, afternoon, evening or weekend shifts available. The evening shift pays a 7.5% shift differential.
  • Athletic Custodians are required to support all stadium events, concerts, football games, etc.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.

What We Can Offer

  • The salary is $31,200 annually, or $15.00 an hour.  Please note: the evening shift pays a 7.5% shift differential.

What We Require

  • Six months custodial experience.
  • Athletic Custodians are required to support all stadium events, concerts, football games, etc.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks.
  • Ability to complete required work records.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of Safety Data Sheets and industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols such as the use of chemicals.

This position is designated “essential services.” The incumbent is required to respond to requests for work during campus emergencies (snow, wind, rain, flood and any other natural or man-made event) and report to work for regularly assigned shifts during emergency campus closures.
