Job Summary

Facilities Management at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Custodian II! This role provides leadership to custodial staff in absence of the supervisor, performing the full range of cleaning tasks and exercising some control over the work product of others. This position will assist the supervisor in planning and inspecting work and assist with equipment repairs, stocking supplies, and the removal of waste and recyclable materials.

Who We Are

Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for the overall physical development and maintenance of the campus. The mission of the department is to provide a safe physical environment that promotes the advancement and transfer of knowledge.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Rotate through different specialist positions: Light Duty Specialist, Vacuum Specialist, Restroom Specialist, Utility Specialist. This position covers the entire Boulder Campus and could be assigned to any campus buildings or locations.
  • Remove snow and ice as necessary from walks and stairs. Apply de-icer as needed to keep the entry open and safe.
  • Coordinate equipment drop off and collection for repairs. Assist in updating and completing departmental forms. Provide updated information regarding room use type and changes in floor surface.
  • Review, recommend, and order material purchases. Distribute supplies for custodians and building users.

Serve as Team Leader

  • For any special projects or assigned floor work projects such as strip/scrub, finish or polish hard floor surfaces. Extract carpeted floors and upholstered furniture. Lead special cleaning projects.
  • Key Distribution and collection before and after each shift. Prepare daily attendance and assignment reports. Assure time cards are completed and entered into FAMIS when supervisor is not on duty.
  • Assist in planning, assigning, coordinating, inspecting and reviewing custodial routine cleaning activities. Adjust assignments to accommodate absences and ensure all areas are covered.
  • Participate in safety culture engagements when requested. Enforce the best safety practices regarding hazard controls and written policies and procedures. Attend and participate in required safety trainings. Report safety hazards and safety incidents.

  • Please be aware that this role is considered essential services.
  • This full time, in-person position’s work schedule is Monday – Thursday from 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm and Friday from 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm. This position may be required to work alternate shifts; for example, 3:30 pm – 12:00 am or 2:00 pm – 12:30 am Tuesday through Saturday.

The salary range is $34,465.60 to $36,400.00 annually.

What We Require

  • One year of custodial experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
  • Must be a Colorado resident to apply.
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver's license.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to optimally communicate with team members, customers and supervisors both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer skills: Outlook calendar and email.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team setting.
