Job Summary
Facilities Management at CU Boulder encourages applications for a Custodian II! This role helps provide leadership to custodial staff in the absence of the supervisor, performing the full range of cleaning tasks and exercising some control over the work product of others. The position assists the supervisor in planning and inspecting work and assisting with equipment repairs, stocking supplies, and the removal of waste and recyclable materials.
Who We Are
Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for the overall physical development and maintenance of the campus. The mission of the department is to provide a safe physical environment that promotes the advancement and transfer of knowledge.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Rotate through different specialist positions: Light Duty Specialist, Vacuum Specialist, Restroom Specialist, Utility Specialist. This position covers the entire Boulder Campus and could be assigned to any campus buildings or locations.
- Remove snow and ice from walkways and stairs and apply de-icer as needed to keep entryways open and safe.
- Schedule, deliver, and collect equipment for repairs. Provide updated information regarding room use, type, and changes in floor surface.
Serve as Team Leader
- For special projects or assigned floor work projects such as strip/scrub, finish or polish hard floor surfaces. Extract carpeted floors and upholstered furniture and lead special cleaning projects.
- Assist in planning, assigning, and reviewing custodial routine cleaning activities. Adjust assignments to accommodate absences. Perform supervisory substitution work in the absence of supervisor.
- Participate in safety culture engagements. Adhere to safety practices regarding hazard controls and written policies and procedures. Attend and participate in required safety trainings and report safety hazards and safety incidents to supervisor.
- Key distribution and collection before and after each shift. Prepare daily attendance and assignment reports. Assure time cards are completed and entered into FAMIS when supervisor is not on duty.
- Review and recommend material purchases. Review, order, and distribute supplies and materials for custodians and building users.
What You Should Know
- This role is eligible for our Facilities Management Employee Referral Program.
- This is a full time, in-person position. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday 3 pm - 11:30 pm, and Friday from 1:30 pm - 10 pm. Note this position may be required to work alternate shifts; for example, 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM or 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM Tuesday through Saturday.
What We Can Offer
- The annual salary rate for this position is $41,016.00.
- Additional Compensation Details: If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.

- Must be a Colorado resident to apply and have a valid Colorado driver's license.

What We Would Like You to Have
Previous Facilities Management or custodial experience in a university setting is preferred.
