Job Summary
The Desktop Support & AV Program Manager will support the mission of the BioFrontiers Institute in advancing interdisciplinary scientific research towards tangible goals. This position role will manage primary IT desktop and A/V support for BioFrontiers personnel, handling issues ranging from backup configuration to systems installation and deployment. This position will work as a member of a team responsible for a large and varied computing infrastructure, all designed to assist in the primary research goal of the organization.
This position will be a service manager and primary desktop support role troubleshooting a variety of PC and Mac hardware and software and independently responding to evolving needs of customers. Candidates should have experience in providing support on all modern OS platforms and be able to learn unfamiliar systems and quickly impart that knowledge to end users. Candidates for this position should also have previous exposure to modern backup systems and associated technologies. The hours for this position will require flexibility depending on events that are in the building and various support needs.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Management of BioFrontiers IT (BIT) Desktop Support Group and Services
- As unit manager, work directly with BIT leadership for project planning and execution, new systems development and improvement, task/services automation, and asset management.
- Exercise independent judgment and decision-making to ensure the unit delivers exceptional customer service and research support.
- Be responsible for desktop support on a varied personal computing infrastructure supporting faculty, staff, and students through management and guidance of the BIT desktop support unit.
- Responsibilities will include but not be limited to, hardware and software troubleshooting and installation, user support, system maintenance, LAN access troubleshooting, and email assistance.
- Direct management of collaborative platforms on Google Workspace and O365 for data sharing within the institute.
- Independently coordinate the procurement, deployment, and inventory of desktop and AV assets, ensuring up-to-date records and lifecycle management.
- Act as BIT liaison with campus OIT for all Desktop Support services and functions. They will also work closely with external vendors to ensure seamless desktop support across various platforms.
- Regularly advise the user base of critical service announcements, including planned outages, system downtimes, and immediate updates related to operating systems or application changes, ensuring transparency and minimizing user disruption.
- Schedule, manage, and task desktop support staff. This will include but not be limited to; staff scheduling, employee reviews, conflict management, and task prioritization.
A/V Support for BioFrontiers Personnel
- Provide primary A/V support for all BioFrontiers personnel in physical rooms and with virtual meeting technologies.
Events Support for BioFrontiers
- Provide support for all BioFrontiers special events and seminars.
- Collaborate with campus technology services and building representatives to ensure supported users appropriately access the tools and resources necessary for their events.
Digital Imaging Management
- Provide primary management of the BioFrontiers digital imaging center and provide oversight for all poster printing services and be responsible for coordinating service center equipment and staffing needs with BIT leadership.
- Plan, design, and implement the service as institute needs evolve.
What You Should Know
- This position requires the ability to work a non-standard schedule including occasional nights, weekends, and early morning hours. A hybrid work modality is available with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.
What We Can Offer
The annual hiring range for this position is $71,000-$85,000 annually.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree and three (3) or more years of work experience in a closely related field including Multi-platform (Mac, PC, Linux) desktop computing support experience, including all standard business applications.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

- Experience managing employees in a desktop support group. Team or group leadership experience for Desktop or AV support roles.
- AV systems configuration and management.
- Experience with large-scale backup system configuration and administration.
- Video conferencing systems configuration and management experience.
- Experience configuring update management for diverse OS clients.
- Large organization desktop support experience.
- Experience streamlining end-user tasks through scripting and management on the Windows and Mac platforms.
- Experience using a ticketing system for support tracking.
- Experience managing and administering web technologies.
