Job Summary

The College of Engineering and Applied Science encourages applicants for the Digital Designer position! This highly collaborative role produces creative digital solutions for external and internal communications, and provides high-quality creative services to meet the college’s strategic goals through an assortment of digital communications and marketing materials. As a member of the college communications team, and under direction of the Associate Director of Creative, this position will work both independently and collaboratively with other team members to produce consistent and coordinated materials in compliance with college and university branding guidelines.

This is a temporary position, lasting up to 12 months. The work associated with this temporary position may become a regular staff position in the future. The incumbent in this temporary role would have an opportunity to be considered for future regular staff positions for which they meet the minimum qualifications.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Graphic design, web editing/design, digital communications, multimedia content creation, video editing, photo editing and some photography.

What You Should Know

  • This is a temporary position lasting up to 12 months.
  • This is a hybrid position with some work being done remotely and other work done on the CU Boulder campus.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement. New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.

What We Can Offer

  • The pay range is $23.00 - $24.50 per hour.


Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave

What We Require

  • A Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, multimedia design, communications or relevant field. 
  • Two years experience in graphic design or multimedia design. 
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute. 
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend events.

What You Will Need

  • Experience using graphic design, multimedia and web editing tools.
  • Proficient using a Mac and Adobe Programs including: 
    • Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro; Drupal-based content management systems.
    • Knowledge of graphic design best practices.
    • Excellent creativity, organizational, interpersonal and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of digital media platforms: websites, social media channels, digital screens, digital communications.
    • Strong prioritization and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and complex environment.
    • Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
    • Demonstrated dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion that translates to inclusive communications and marketing in support of the ongoing development of a vibrant, culturally diverse and inclusive learning community.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience with After Effects or similar motion graphics programs.
  • Experience working with students and faculty in a higher education environment.
