The Director of Cross-Campus Advising Services within the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) serves as a subject matter expert and leader to the broader campus community on issues related to academic advising. In this role, you will provide oversight of advising services that serve students across campus; facilitate coordination of advising functions among college-based programs; serve as the lead for the development and adoption of advising tools, including MyCUHub (Salesforce); oversee campus-wide advising initiatives, and support cross-campus advisor training. The Director is a resource and partner to the heads of all advising programs on campus, co-leads the Campus Advising Executive Council, and sponsors Advising Council. 

The director reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost for Advising & Exploratory Studies, and works in close consultation with directors/assistant directors of advising programs, as well as Associate/Assistant Deans across campus and partners in student services offices.


Who We Are

Our campus is currently seeking candidates for two director-level leadership roles—a Director of Advising Quality in the College of Arts & Sciences, focused on overseeing the quality of the academic advising program and supporting the supervisors within the largest advising unit on campus (https://colorado.avature.net/jobs/JobDetail?jobId=21069); and a Director of Cross-Campus Advising Services in the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE), focused on leading all aspects of advising initiatives across campus.

The Division of Academic Affairs is responsible for meeting the academic mission of CU Boulder to be a comprehensive graduate research university with selective admission standards, offering a comprehensive array of undergraduate, masters and doctoral degree programs. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Supervision of programs
  • Provide high-level leadership for several advising initiatives/services that serve students and advisors across campus.
  • Lead future development and evolution of cross-campus advising partnerships. 
  • Coordinate campus-wide drop-in hours. 
  • Intervene as needed to resolve barriers to student success that arise through these services and programs and identify corresponding training needs and opportunities within the advising community. 
Functional Lead for CRM Student Success 
  • Serve as functional lead for design and development of advising tools.
  • Prioritize development needs.
  • Facilitate town halls and focus groups as needed.
  • Ensure consistent adoption of tools across advising community.
  • Partner closely with the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success Initiatives to develop tools that align with campus-wide student success priorities. 
Oversight of Cross-campus Advising Initiatives
  • Serve as liaison to all advising units and ensure consistent adoption and execution of key advising strategies. 
  • Ensure common position, salary, organizational principles for advising units as well as shared training resources and practices/policies.
  • Partner with the Associate Vice Provost to determine funding allocation needs for advising positions.
  • Assess and report on norms and goals and establish and maintain a strategic vision for campus-wide advising services.
  • Sponsor and facilitate cross-campus advising governance groups, including the Campus Advising Executive Council and Advising Council. 
Human Resource and Fiscal Management
  • Provide effective and efficient management of the human and financial resources within the position’s areas of responsibility, including (but not limited to): 
    • Supervision, and development of staff reporting to the director. 
    • Management of operating budget. 
    • Development of business plans.
    • Oversight of budget in programs reporting to the director. 
Office of Undergraduate Education 
  • Respond to advising concerns from students and families as needed. 
  • Serve as a liaison to enrollment management, curriculum offices, and dean's offices.
  • Represent OUE on campus committees and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Salary Range Starts at $81,000 commensurate with skills and experience.

What We Require

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree and seven (7) years, OR a completed master’s degree and five (5) years, of professional, related, and progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, including at least three (3) years supervising professional staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in change management and engage stakeholders collaboratively in the process.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience with academic advising and advising administration at a large public university. 
  • Familiarity with the types of majors, minors, and certificate programs and undergraduate policies and processes that exist at CU Boulder.
  • Broad familiarity with advising structures and approaches at large research universities.
  • Experience with staff training and development.
  • Seven (7) years of professional related experience and five (5) or more years of supervisory experience.
