Job Summary

The Office of Admissions invites applications for an Evaluator Trainee. This is a trainee position that will not remain at this level indefinitely. Comprehensive training in the evaluation and interpretation of applications and supporting credentials for admissions to the university following established UCB guidelines, rules and regulations; learning the process of examining and classifying student residency for tuition classification.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Credential Evaluator Data Entry 
  • Evaluate the source documents (admission applications and supporting credentials), used in the University’s admission application process, for completeness and consistency; 
  • Code and enter data/information to the student information system. 
  • Verify and corrects data errors and inconsistencies.
Learning to Assess/Record College Transcripts
  • Review college transcripts to ensure institutional validity/accreditation. 
  • Convert and enter records/transactions from the transferring institution to the University’s student information system.
Learning to Assess/Record High School Transcripts 
  • Review high school transcripts to ensure course completion and appropriate content.
  • Convert and enter records/transactions reflecting completion to the University’s student information system.
  • Offer seasonal assistance to the undergraduate processing teams when assessing high school transcripts.
Tuition Classification
  • Evaluate the information/data included on the admission application to determine an applicant's entitlement to an in-state tuition classification.
Customer Service/Education and Graduate Departments' Liaison
  • Advise or explain the specific campus rules, standards and procedures; state and federal rules and regulations; to various constituents including trainees, staff, faculty, applicants, parents, and other offices on campus. 
  • Work directly with several graduate departments and act as their primary contact in the Admissions Office.

What We Require

  • One year of experience applying program rules and procedures for entry, retrieval, revision, and manipulation of data in a multiagency computerized information database. Appropriate education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Experience with a student information system and a document imaging system is highly desirable.
  • An understanding of higher education and the admission process to a post-secondary institution are preferred.
