The Leeds School of Business encourages applications for an Executive Director of Engagement, Marketing and Communications! This role serves as a partner to school leadership in elevating Leeds engagement and reputation in alignment with the Leeds 2035 strategic plan. This role demands a blend of strategic insight, creative thinking, and operational execution. The Executive Director will lead a high-performing team across marketing, communications, and event management and will work closely with internal partners to champion a collaborative, respectful, and inspiring work environment. This individual will act as a connector—building positive relationships across campus, with media, and within the Leeds community—to champion innovation, brand integrity, and community engagement.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Strategic Brand Leadership
- Collaborate with Leeds’ leadership to shape and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with the Leeds 2035 vision.
- Work closely with school leadership to enhance Leeds’ reputation through strategic media engagement, compelling storytelling, and bold, creative initiatives.
- Serve as a strategic advisor and spokesperson in collaboration with various school partners, advancing the school’s visibility, influence, and thought leadership.
- Build brand equity in partnership with CU Boulder by maintaining a cohesive visual and verbal identity across all platforms.
- Ensure Leeds events are implemented following all campus guidelines and policies and are aligned with the campus and school brand resulting in stronger affinity for the institution.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Act as a bridge-builder across Leeds, collaborating deeply with academic divisions, administrative units, and school leadership.
- Serve as Leeds liaison to the broader campus community and as partner to CU’s Office of Strategic Relations and Communications.
- Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing, purposeful team.
- Cultivate a culture grounded in trust, respect, accountability, creativity, and collaboration.
- Establish clear structures, role expectations, and professional development pathways to help individuals thrive.
- Promote internal engagement and shared ownership of goals across the team and broader organization.
- Maintain an open-door policy and ensure responsive, clear communication with all partners.
Operational Excellence & Execution
- Uphold and guide brand standards across all communications, content, and events.
- Manage project prioritization and execution in a fast paced environment.
- Take a process-focused approach to supervise performance, learn from outcomes, and adapt dynamically.
- Collaborate with partners to align planning, execution, and communications with broader institutional goals.
- Ensure marketing, communication and event efforts follow campus policies and reflect institutional values.
- Streamline internal processes for efficiency, quality control, and consistency across initiatives.
- Support an event management framework that engages a broad range of partners (current and prospective students, faculty and staff, alumni and donors, etc.), ensure a positive guest experience, and leverage events to meet Leeds’ reputation, recruitment, student success, and advancement goals.
What You Should Know
- Hybrid work modality, with a minimum of 3 days on campus per week. Additional days in person,
- evenings and weekend days will be required as needed. Occasion travel will also be required.
What We Can Offer
- $150,00-$170,000. Relocation assistance is available within Leeds guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6+ years of experience that includes:
- Supervisory experience directing a team of diverse marketing and communication functions.
- Working in or with higher education.
- Relevant marketing/communications/media management experience.
What You Will Need
- Proven success in building and leading collaborative teams and strong engagement with multiple partners.
- Experience with strategic marketing planning, brand management, and institutional storytelling.
- Understanding of marketing analytics, audience engagement, and digital communications.
- Proven experience with various marketing strategies and tactics in earned, owed, paid, and experiential marketing, including event management.
- Record of leadership in experiential—or engagement—marketing that engages broad and segmented audiences to achieve various business objectives.
- Proficiency in various forms of digital and omni-channel media including the use of web, email, social, and video as part of integrated campaigns.
- Experience with regional and national media with demonstrated successful results.
- Experience using enterprise CRM such as Salesforce and Slate.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a related field from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years working in business schools.
