Job Summary
Who We Are
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Carpentry responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintain, repair, or replace entry doors, interior doors, and associated hardware
- Replace window glass, screens, and blinds as well as repair window operating systems
- Repair or replace damaged drywall or ceiling tiles, flooring, door casing and baseboard molding
- Install or remove wall-mounted cabinets, shelving, signage, white boards, and solid surface (Corian/Avonite) countertops
- Prepare and paint walls, ceilings, and other surfaces
- Repair or replace bedframes, desks, and other furniture
- Plumbing responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Repair or replace p-traps, unclog sink, shower, floor drains, and toilets
- Clear main sewer lines, investigate leaks and apply temporary patches
- Repair or replace faucets, valves, showerheads and filters on bottle fill stations
- Repair or replace garbage disposals; remove and install tub surrounds; repair, rebuild, or replace toilet tank components
- Diagnose, repair, or replace appliances such dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators, and washing machines
- Electrical responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Replace lightbulbs, ballasts, light covers, light fixtures and range hoods
- Investigate localized/isolated power outages and reset tripped breakers
- Diagnose issues and repair electric ranges, refrigerators, and water heaters
- Repair or replace bathroom exhaust fans, furnace motors, and outlet switch covers
- Mechanical responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Investigate temperature related service requests
- Adjust vents and dampers; replace thermostats
- Clean, repair and replace screens, vents, ductwork, furnaces, fan coil units and filters in exhaust hoods
- Replace media in evaporative cooling systems
- Inspect mechanical rooms; conduct elevator phone system tests
- Inspect and test AEDs
- Perform fire & life safety inspections; inventory flood response & safety equipment
- Record gauge and meter readings
- Perform 60° door swing tests; test air compressors
- Perform HVAC system component maintenance inspect sump pit and service sump pump
- Serve as a team member for controlled maintenance and capital projects
- Participate in various project phases to include scope development, schematic design, pre-construction, construction, and punch list
- Review and provide feedback on project documentation
- Serve as a subject matter expert from a multi-trade perspective
- Wear prescribed personal protective equipment
- Follow ladder, roof tie-off, and confined space safety
- Follow ACM and other O&M methods training
- Exercise caution during high-heat or winter weather events
- Stay informed with toolbox talk safety communications and complete required safety trainings
- Replace roof tiles, patch concrete, brickwork, snow removal, and small-scale pest control
What You Should Know
- This position may be required to work off hours during weekends or holidays.
- This position operates University vehicles and requires a Driver's License in good standing.

What We Require
- Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
- Appropriate education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
What You Will Need
- Proven knowledge of building systems to include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, envelope, and transportation
- Demonstrated experience in multi-trade work or as a maintenance technician.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment like gas detectors and sewer machines.
- Knowledge of smart phone and tablet technology.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service skills
- Proven problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Prior construction or building trade license or certification.
- Three years of experience in commercial building maintenance and repair.
- Experience in multi-site or multi-building facilities management.
