Job Summary

The Office of Integrity, Safety, and Compliance (OISC) encourages applications for a Finance and HR Coordinator. As part of the Finance & Business Support team, this role reports to the Associate Director of Finance and Business Operations of the OISC and provides support to the HR Business Partner. This role will champion the day to day financial and human resources aspects of the organizational strategic goals by providing superb customer service and promoting the efficient and effective use of existing financial resources.

OISC includes the following departments: the Police Department, Digital Accessibility, Cyber Security, and the Office of Information Security.

The members of the University of Colorado Boulder Police Department (CUPD) are dedicated to providing the highest quality police services in order to enhance community safety, protect life and property, and reduce crime and the fear of crime. To do this, we pledge to develop a partnership with the community, to lead a community commitment to resolve problems, and to improve the safety and quality of life for all CU affiliates. The CUPD is a full-service police agency with 46 sworn and 36 non-sworn employees providing community-based public safety services to a diverse community of 36,000 affiliates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year long. Every year the department responds to approximately 20,000 calls for service and ensures the safety and security for all of their PAC-12 Conference athletic events with attendance at football games exceeding 50,000 fans. Patrolling the campus by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, and vehicle, the CU-Boulder police work diligently with the University community and surrounding agencies to ensure a prompt and coordinated law enforcement response.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Financial Analysis and Support
  • Assist with monthly reconciliation of Procurement Card and Travel Card Expense reports. Oversight of SharePoint workflow requests to ensure procurement needs are reviewed and approved prior to purchasing.
  • Enter, collect, review and analyze financial data (running budget reports, position management, cost-benefit analysis, monthly JEs and PETs for PD and OISC Staff, etc.) to assist with overall production, financial analysis, and communication of budget data and budget processes for the division.
  • Assist Finance Director in all aspects of administering, preparing, reviewing, monitoring, projecting, and allocating the Budget Request, the Budget Allocation, and the Mid-year Budget.
  • Provide analyses, interpretation, assumptions, projections, and presentations of financial data, including the budget submissions for Finance Director and BFP (Budget and Financial Planning).
  • Work in close consultation with various campus and University offices especially the Procurement Services Center (PSC), Planning, Budget & Analysis (PBA), and Accounting & Business Support (ABS), and OIT Office of Financial Planning to represent the needs and interests of OISC by establishing strong relationships and partnerships.
Human Resources Support
  • Provide technical assistance to the HR Business Partner.
  • Enter staffing changes and position description changes into the talent management system, Avature.
  • Assist with welcoming New Employees and completing onboarding procedures, employee records management and maintenance.
  • Assist with the implementation of the new CUPD payroll system and provide outstanding customer service to employees. Remind employees of payroll deadlines.
  • Support with developing, implementing, and/or maintaining new systems and procedures.
  • Support major campus events and represent the Police Department to support command staff by working in various roles (sporting events, commencement, summer concerts, political events, etc.)

What We Can Offer

Anticipated starting salary is $48,000, commensurate with experience.

What We Require

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, accounting, finance, human resources or a related field. A combination of education and/or relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirements on a year for year basis.
  • 1 year of Business or Human Resources related experience which may include internship experience
  • Must be able to successfully pass elements of the hiring process that include a full detailed background/personal investigation, a phase I psychological suitability test, a polygraph, an integrity interview, and a drug screen. The polygraph will entail disclosure of drug usage and the use of illegal substances (including marijuana) could result in disqualification.

What You Will Need

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability and experience working collegially in a shared governance structure (i.e., an environment of shared decision making). 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in Excel, PeopleSoft, and HCM.
  • Ability to accurately enter data into various university software systems
  • Ability to thrive within a fast-paced, interrupt-driven work environment. 

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Finance, business, or human resources experience with public safety in higher education, university police, or university security.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of university, state, and federal rules pertaining to financial and budgetary activity.
