Job Summary

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) encourages applications for a Professional Research Assistant with Flight Dynamics System (FDS) experience to develop the ground-based Navigation and Maneuver Design system for one of several proposals that have been submitted.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  1. Lead the technical development of the ground-based Navigation and Maneuver Design system for all phases of the project.
  2. Define the system requirements and develop the verification, test and validation plans.
  3. Perform the verification analysis and conduct the verification tests.
  4. Coordinate ground segment integration tests and operational readiness tests.
  5. Perform the flight operations navigation and maneuver design functions.

What We Require

  • Master’s degree with 3 years experience or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline. 

What You Will Need

  • Strong background in radiometric tracking, optical navigation, and maneuver design.
  • Strong background in estimation and filtering techniques. 

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Five years of engineering experience.
  • Phase B-D Navigation system development experience.
  • Interplanetary spacecraft flight operations experience.
  • Python tool development experience.
  • Experience with tools such as MONTE, Basilisk, GMAT, STK/ODTK.
