Job Summary
The University Libraries encourage applications for a Google Books & Materials Management Associate! This position joins the Engaged Spaces Team. This position verifies that materials being shipped from the Libraries meet the requirements of the Google Library Books project and are pulled and processed accurately, at the PASCAL facility on the CU Anschutz campus and at the University Libraries’ locations. They ensure that the shipment timelines for these materials are met. They work closely with the Norlin Stacks & Materials Coordinator and Head of Materials Management to assist with materials’ projects, including data collection for stacks analysis, pulling materials for transfers to PASCAL, and a variety of materials-related tasks. This position also implements delivery services that the library provides by performing pick up and delivery of materials from our branch libraries and PASCAL Offsite storage facility as needed.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Google Books Project
- Pulls and checks out books from the Norlin Library and branch libraries and PASCAL stacks to ship to Google, crafting necessary item records and checking books back in upon return (pulling these materials at PASCAL involves being certified on and operating a forklift). Review books pulled from the Libraries and PASCAL for preservation issues (prior to shipment to Google or PASCAL). Ensures that all timeframes for shipment of materials from University Libraries and PASCAL meet the requirements of the Google Library Books project timelines.
- This job duty will require the pushing and maneuvering of fully loaded book carts that may weigh up to 600 lbs. This has been noted as "Heavy" in the physical demands under functional attributes.
Branch and PASCAL Deliveries
- Loads and delivers materials to and from the University and Law libraries. Sorts and processes materials incoming from PASCAL and branch libraries. Identifies and resolves issues that arise. Performs branch deliveries and loading and delivering PASCAL items to and from the offsite facility, as needed, using a University vehicle (Prius and GEM).
Materials Management Tasks
- Assists with the daily materials management tasks, including sorting, shelving, retrieval, pulling items for transfer to PASCAL, and list searches. Helps with data collection in stacks assessments and related projects taking place in the stacks, like shifting. Other materials management tasks as assigned.
What You Should Know
- This position spends approximately 2 days/week at our offsite facility on the CU Anschutz campus, PASCAL, and 3 days/week at Norlin Library on the CU Boulder campus.
- This position is working on-site, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm.
What We Can Offer
- The salary is $42,500 (set based on pay equity and likely within the 1st quartile).
- If you have prior state-classified experience in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.

What We Require
- Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position OR A combination of related education and/or proven experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years.
- Must be a Colorado resident.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
- Ability to push approximately 600 lbs. on specialized carts, working with a colleague.

What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience with FOLIO, or similar library systems.
- Experience locating, shelving, or retrieving library materials shelved in LC classification.
