Job Summary

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is Federally-mandated under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and Public Health Service (PHS) Policy to oversee all aspects of research involving animal subjects. The IACUC is responsible for ensuring the humane care and use of animals in research, testing, and teaching. The IACUC Admin Assistant provides support in all aspects of the IACUC Office functions to ensure efficiency of business operations. The Admin Assistant reports to the Director of the IACUC Office.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Office Administration 
  • Orders supplies.
  • Organize files.
  • Maintain the IACUC website.
  • Answer non-regulatory Elements questions.
  • Track submission volume and committee member effort.
  • Assist in Preparation of Pcard and Travel Expense reports.
  • Assist in the Coordinating of lab and facility inspections.
Supports IACUC Committee 
  • Maintain IACUC calendar for committee availability.
  • Schedule meetings, reserves meeting rooms and places catering requests.
  • Record notes from semi-annual inspections.
  • Transmit and tracks timely notices of approval and expiration reminders to investigators.
  •  Assist in Preparing meeting materials as needed.
 Record Maintenance 
  • Maintain IACUC Membership and CITI training records.  
  • Print/file protocol information as necessary.
  • Create and maintain reports in Elements.
  • Closeout and purge files in accordance with the appropriate records retention policies.
  • Assist in Updating and Maintenance of  Standard Operating Procedures and Guidance Documents.
  • Assist with Compiling inspection reports, communicate deficiencies to researchers and track responses.
 Other Duties as Assigned
  • Provide back-up support to the IACUC Director and Coordinator as needed.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or commensurate work experience. 
  • Specialized knowledge and prior experience with animal research, regulations concerning animal research, or sponsored programs.
